Corporate Communications is seeking a Sr. Consultant, Communications to provide strategic communications counseling and support for the Emerging Businesses Group (Innovation, Bank, Pet and Specialty).

Responsibilities:

Lead executive communications for the senior leaders in the Emerging Business Group; ensure consistent messaging across internal and external stakeholder groups.

Consult with and counsel EBG executives and their leadership teams.

Develop strategic communication plans and programs that support EMG business growth, strategy enablement, issues management, change management and enterprise associate engagement goals.

Deliver high-quality work involving a full range of media including presentations, executive talking points, newsletters, videos, internal campaigns, websites, announcements and articles.

Build strong team and client relationships based on trust, adaptability and the ability to make sound recommendations.

Collaborate with other teams to ensure internal and external message alignment in support of One Nationwide.

Partner with Public Relations colleagues to align external and internal communications and thought leadership related to EBG.

Evaluate the impact and effectiveness of communication materials and programs. Provide recommendations to senior management on new/revised communications practices and strategies.

Understand and share with leaders and colleagues best practices and trends in communications and related technology.

Demonstrate initiative and leadership in support of the full Corporate Communications team.

Education/Experience

10 years of experience in communication consulting, planning and implementation

Strong skills in the following areas: verbal and written communications, executive influence, content development, project management, proofreading

Understanding of The Associated Press style guidelines

Demonstrated vision and expertise in effectively delivering leader and associate communications through a variety of communication vehicles

.CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Continued:

Leads in the identification of strategic communications opportunities to develop significant improvement and competitive advantage with business processes and operations. Contributes to the overall strategic vision of the organization and integrates a broad range of ideas regarding internal/external communication. Develops in depth project plans and implements the tactics within the work plan; ensures that decision are documents and reflected in works plans. Manages customer expectations for timelines and implementation.

Strategy: Provides direction and insight to leaders, peers and project leaders on internal/external communication issues and programs to ensure that communication plans support the business unit's and/or company's strategic initiatives and objectives.

SME: Serves as the top communications consultant and subject matter expert. Provides direction in the planning, design, development and implementation of communication strategies and programs at the company or division level for internal/external audiences. Collaborates and consults to determine appropriate solutions for the most complex and ambiguous communications issues that involve multiple disciplines and impact multiple business units.

Management: Provides direction and insight on complex communication strategies for improving business performance. May manage the activities of a creative communications team and vendors to produce and implement communications events, materials, print, Web, meetings and presentations.

Evaluation: Functions as the top communications expert in evaluating the impact and effectiveness of the materials and programs and provides recommendations to senior management on new/revised communications practices, programs and strategies. Evaluates communication strategies and plans for large-scale business initiatives or projects that cross disciplines and business units and which are the most complex projects involving high business risk, scope and impact to the organization.

Associate: Serves as highest consultation for planning, development and implementation of internal/external communications around company level projects and initiatives. Leads cross-functional associate project teams. Consults with top level senior executives on associate communications issues.

Web: Establishes self as resident exert in Web content and functions as the highest level individual contributor and subject matter expert on Web content development, design, flow and site organization. Applies expert level creative skills involving Web site content and marketing communications techniques. Works with management and other functional areas to develop company Web site content. Work involves broad latitude for decision making and review of actions thought goal attainment.

Media Relations: Provides the highest consultation for the planning, development, and implementation of media relations programs. Writes and prepares speeches, remarks accompanied by audio visuals and appropriate handouts. Assists in creating pitches, talking points and online content targeted to the media.

Public Relations: Manages relationships with high-visibility members of the media or third-party organizations. Acts as spokesperson for key projects. Conducts media training sessions with internal/external executives. Manages senior executive relationships with the media. Copyedits and provides technical expertise to other team members. Leads Media Relations Project Teams.

Measurement: Provides high level direction to need assessment, research of possible solutions/alternatives, and development as well as presentation of proposals for new communication projects and programs.

Measurement: Develops and implements survey tools for researching information or opinions.

Leadership: Provides mentoring on all communication consulting and analysis activities. Plans and coordinates workflow/assignments for project or work team. Provides input to performance evaluations.

Public Relations: May help manage various CAT duties as a representative of Corporate Communications. Duties may be onsite or out of a designated office location.

Performs other duties as assigned.MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Undergraduate studies in communications, journalism, advertising or related field. Master level studies preferred.Experience: Typically 9 or more years of related experience in a communications field including managing corporate communications projects, editing and writing, communications coaching, developing & executing complex communications projects. News media or agency experience for public relations focus.Knowledge: High-level knowledge in communications techniques and strategies. Demonstrated knowledge in advertising, public relations, sales marketing communication concepts, proven knowledge in business operations and procedures, company structure, and organizational dynamics.Skills/ Competencies: Must have the ability to manage long-term communications projects, as well as quick turnaround assignments. Must have the ability to analyze business strategies and develop communications plans and programs to meet client needs. Must be able to research, plan and develop communication strategies, projects and programs. Must have the ability to influence and direct creative service teams that are not direct reports, and to influence executive leaders.Must have the ability to prepare and present verbal presentations and demonstrations translating complex policy and technical concepts to all type audiences. Must have high-level verbal and written communication skills necessary to consult on communication planning to senior leaders and to direct development of internal/external communications materials to project team. Work prioritization, decision making and critical thinking skills required. Must be a problem solver and adaptable to changing needs of the client. Must be a self-starter with strong organizational skills. Must have the ability to integrate different ideas and concepts, messaging into larger communications programs.Values: Regularly and consistently demonstrates the Nationwide Values and Guiding Behaviors.Staffing Exceptions: Staffing exceptions to the above Minimum Job Requirements must be approved by the: Vice President and Human Resources.JOB CONDITIONS:
