The News Producer creates content for television and other digital platforms. The position requires proactive management of all content within the newscast: copy, video, graphics, reporter stories and production elements. The News Producer contributes heavily to a team process; offers story ideas, process improvement ideas and creative alternatives on a daily basis. The work performed is for all media platforms and initiatives, including on-air, website, app and social media.
Essential Job Functions:
65% Creates and executes compelling, informative and accurate newscasts that meet ratings/research goals.
25% Delivers web and other digital content on a daily basis.
5% Collaborates with and mentors associate producers, reporters, editors and photographers.
5% Participates in special projects or contributes to other newscasts as assigned by news managers.
Job Requirements Minimum Qualifications EOE
Education: Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Communications, Journalism, or related field or equivalent training and/or experience.
Experience: 2-3 years' experience as producer or more as an associate producer in television news operation.
Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Must have excellent news judgment and organizational skills.
Thorough knowledge of news gathering equipment and sources.
Knowledge of Nashville DMA helpful.
Must have in-depth knowledge of current events.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to multi- task and maintain calm and focus in a hectic and fast paced environment.
Ability to work under the pressure of tight deadlines and last minute changes
