Job Description Summary The Communications Coordinator assists in maintaining the overall communication strategy and branding for Dodge College of Film and Media Arts at the direction of the Communications and External Relations Manager. Working with the Communications and External Relations team, develops goals, messaging points for each audience, and orchestrates tactics to deliver the messages. Creates pieces that are adherent to brand guidelines, provides written content for websites, blog, social media channels and In Production magazine. Coordinates and tracks the creation of, and/or updates to, marketing collateral and publications for the school, including event invitations, postcards, programs, brochures, electronic newsletters, email blasts, advertisements, digital displays, posters and promotional giveaway items. Manages collegeu2019s social media channels, maintaining a consistent presence and interacting with constituents on a daily basis. Writes and/or proofs content for the blog and In Production Magazine. Assists with school, alumni and outreach events as needed. Manages photo library for college, labeling and organizing all images in the photo archive. Identifies appropriate images for marketing use, and coordinates photography when necessary. Provides assistance with administrative duties as needed. This position requires the ability to work some evening and weekend hours to attend events and classes for job-related functions. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Provide support to the Communications and External Relations Manager by coordinating and implementing communication and marketing strategies and activities through the following duties: u2022With a journalistic eye, an ear to the ground, and a sense of urgency, report on newsworthy stories, including events, classes, special guests, panels/workshops, alumni news and the current student perspective for communication channels by: oReporting on the development of student projects oAttending and covering college events oMonitoring news channels and sharing relevant information about industry guests, students, alumni and faculty with the Dodge College community oUpdating the various social media groups and channels to ensure timely and engaging content u2022Field staff and faculty requests for communication and marketing needs such as course announcements, event publicity requests, email blasts and digital signage; coordinating with the Communications and External Relations Manager to ensure the most appropriate medium is used for publicity and widespread messaging u2022Collaborate with DCFMA staff to create print, custom video and digital content as needed u2022Write copy and schedule social media messaging and blog posts u2022Assist with engaging students, faculty and staff to contribute their voices to the blog u2022Respond to external inquiries and posts via the appropriate media u2022Proofread digital and print contents u2022Coordinate Event Marketing efforts including building registration pages and entering events on Chapmanu2019s public calendars u2022Coordinate and maintain internal messaging calendar to ensure the synchronization of communication efforts u2022Collaborate with internal editorial team to write articles for Dodge College publications u2022Make recommendations on print and digital content to improve engagement u2022Assist with generating new methods of communicating messaging to the Chapman community and beyond u2022Contribute ideas in regular team meetings u2022Coordinate regular updates to the internal and external department websites at the direction of the Communications and External Relations Manager u2022As needed, train and encourage staff and faculty on social platforms u2022Maintain photo archive u2022Work on short and long term projects as assigned u2022Performs other duties as assigned Required Qualifications Bacheloru2019s degree or equivalent work experience and education. Extensive demonstrated professional experience using current online social media platforms. Intimate familiarity with social media best practices. Proven journalistic writing style/acumen. Ability to work on multiple creative assignments in a hands-on fashion at all stages of development. Exceptional writing and communication skills. Strong attention to detail. Ability to demonstrate initiative and follow directions as appropriate for the position level. Adaptability to accommodate tasks generated from multiple levels of the organization. Utilizes tact and diplomacy when interacting with a variety of constituents, both internal and external. Ability to demonstrate good judgment and is discerning about sharing sensitive information. Ability to prioritize own workload and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline-driven, team-oriented environment. Strong technical skills to learn and use enterprise systems and departmental tools. Experience in Adobe Creative Suite. Ability to understand and apply policies and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills to work with a diverse group of individuals at all university levels. Ability to learn and interpret university and department policies and procedures. Desired Qualifications Experience with video editing. Basic HTML, WordPress and content management systems such as Cascade. Knowledge of filmmaking process. Still photography experience. Graphic design experience a plus.
