Grants Manager

(Full-Time Position)

Inner City Law Center (ICLC) is a nonprofit law firm on Skid Row. Founded on the fundamental principle that every person should always be treated with dignity and respect, ICLC fights for justice for low-income tenants, working-poor families, people who are disabled or homeless, people living with HIV/AIDS, and homeless veterans. Inner City Law Center is doubling in size and we are looking for extraordinary people to help end homelessness in Los Angeles. Over the next six months, we will add 40 talented lawyers, paralegals, and other staff to our team so that we can serve far more people.

Position Description: ICLC seeks a Grants Manager to maintain and build our expanding grants portfolio. The Grants Manager will research public and private grant funding opportunities, prepare effective letters of inquiry and grant applications, follow through with acknowledgements and reports to funders, and manage grants-related records and files. The position also supports ICLC’s other fundraising and communications efforts, including creating materials, maintaining and developing relationships, and participating in special events. Conduct research to identify appropriate funding opportunities.

Take the lead in proposal development, including drafting, revising and editing, and assembling supporting documentation.

Organize the application process for complex proposals involving program staff.

Write and submit reports to funders as required.

Maintain ICLC’s grants calendar to ensure all proposal and reporting deadlines are met.

Manage electronic and paper grant files.

Establish and maintain a grant funder database.

Work with program staff to capture and communicate data about ICLC’s work and strengthen our ability to tell ICLC’s story.

Perform other duties as needed.

Hiring Criteria:

Commitment to ICLC's mission.

Bachelor’s degree.

Successful experience researching, writing, and managing grants in a non-profit context.

Excellent writing skills.

Understanding of nonprofit finances and budgets.

Ability to organize processes and engage with colleagues in collaborative work.

Ability to establish and maintain orderly and useful electronic and hard-copy files.

Proficiency with common office computer programs, including constituent management software.

Integrity, discretion, dependability, detail-oriented, and ability to assume responsibility quickly and independently manage varied responsibilities.
