Position Overview: We are leading the clean energy power and electrification future for California and are looking to hire people with passion and know-how in external stakeholder engagement to make that happen. The Senior Advisor \u2013 External Engagement Operations will oversee the ongoing development and execution of the team\u2019s external engagement operations that support company initiatives in clean power (renewables, energy storage, etc.) and transportation and building electrification. Reporting to the Principal Manager of External Engagement, you will provide matrixed leadership and guidance to cross-functional project teams that include representatives from many departments throughout the company. You will use your informal leadership and project management skills to ensure that key initiatives such as brand reputation management, coalition building, thought leadership, executive speaking and sponsorship opportunities, and political advocacy are being executed through a cross-functional team. The Senior Advisor is additionally responsible for the reporting and tracking functions of the team\u2019s activities through established governance and will lead the development of new processes for stakeholder database development\/management and the measurement of engagement effectiveness. The Senior Advisor will evaluate and recommend courses of action, seek information and escalate any identified business risks. The position is part of a small but mighty team, so you will be expected to roll up your sleeves for stakeholder tracking, event support and message\/content development. Additionally, you will represent the company with external stakeholders to support and defend SCE\u2019s clean power and electrification policy priorities to help California reach its greenhouse gas reduction and air quality goals. Typical Responsibilities: Tracking\/reporting the progress of campaign and policy advocacy operations. This includes organizing and facilitating executive cross-functional team meetings and regular reporting for executive audiences. Providing coaching on work streams underway by cross-functional teams that include government affairs, technical experts, regulatory affairs, corporate communications, local public affairs and customer service operations. Overseeing the development and maintenance of a stakeholder database and the use of it for external engagement across departments. Overseeing the external engagement operational work, managing program and project timelines via scope, scale and budget, tracking milestones and mitigating risk accordingly; coordinating resources between multiple works steams to ensure all deadlines are met. Overseeing the development of engagement activities and communication materials and content (e.g. fact sheets, talking points, presentations, FAQs), and coordinating external engagement opportunities including event sponsorships, executive speaking opportunities, social and digital campaigns, research and thought leadership pieces. Performing after-action reviews and post-activity evaluations and assessments on projects that have been undertaken by external engagement teams to identify successful and unsuccessful approaches, strategies and tactics, and sharing those insights with the team as part of ongoing continuous improvement efforts. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Public Policy, Public Relations, Business or related field. Seven years of experience in public relations, media relations, corporate communications, campaign development and management and\/or governmental or regulatory affairs. Ten years of experience managing the successful implementation of projects against scope, schedule and budget. Desired Qualifications: Seven or more years of experience in public affairs\/public relations some of which include managing advocacy and education plans targeting a wide variety of stakeholders. Five years of engagement plan development, writing and reporting. Five years of clean power and electrification stakeholder engagement by tailoring and delivering advocacy and tracking results. Five years of working on clean power and electrification issue campaign teams, with a strong record of collaboration and effective information sharing. Digital and social media monitoring and engagement experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills with a strong attention to detail. Critical thinker with the ability to thrive in a fast paced, collaborative environment. Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and stakeholder databases. Comments: Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, CA with occasional visits to local SCE offices. Position will require occasional travel within California for conferences and stakeholder meetings.
