Our attorneys assist corporations, not-for-profits, and professionals through the constant evolution of complex legal, regulatory, and marketplace demands. We work closely with our clients to ensure that their policies, practices, and strategies are directed toward maximizing opportunities and securing compliance with federal and state laws and regulations.

We are seeking a communications assistant who will provide support to attorneys in our Georgetown office. This position can be part-time or full-time.

We are accepting resumes until 11:59 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 17, 2018.

Essential Duties

Duties of the communications assistant include:

Develop content for the firm’s social media accounts to engage sophisticated target audiences;

Assist with marketing communications, including preparation, publication, and distribution of the firm’s client newsletter;

Organize and execute firm and client events;

Manage telephone and email communications, answering incoming calls, monitoring email inboxes, and directing callers and messages to appropriate personnel;

Maintain calendars, coordinate and schedule meetings and travel, and prepare agendas and presentation materials;

Format Word documents, Excel spreadsheets, and PowerPoint presentations;

Maintain office equipment, including computers, printers, and shredders;

Serve as the firm’s liaison to outside service providers, including web hosting, telephone, cable, information technology and security, banking, shipping, and catering companies;

Order office supplies;

Maintain a professional, organized office environment;

Ensure that work is completed fully and correctly, and deadlines are met;

Preserve the confidentiality of firm and client information; and

Other duties as assigned.


A preferred candidate will meet the following qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited U.S. college or university;

Experience in a professional office setting;

Proficiency in Office 365 with expertise in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint;

Excellent oral and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, and spelling;

Strong planning and time management skills, including successfully carrying out multiple projects simultaneously and completing projects in a timely manner;

Deadline driven, efficient, organized, and attentive to details;

Dedication to client service and capacity to engage with professionals in constructive ways; and

Willingness to accept corrective feedback with a positive attitude.

Hours and Compensation

This position requires a commitment of 20 or more hours per week.

DCBA Law & Policy is located in Georgetown’s Washington Harbour, which provides shuttle service to and from the Metro.
