POSITION SUMMARY

The Executive Director has the general responsibility for the administration of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare, responsible to the Foundation Board of Directors and the Director of Philanthropy, CHRISTUS Health in keeping with the mission and values of the CHRISTUS Health System. The Executive Director is responsible for seeing that the foundation, through its ministries, serves the health and welfare of people in the Greater Houston-Galveston Market. Also directs a comprehensive, multifaceted fundraising program that meets the funding goals and objectives of the organization; oversees the accounting and management of a multi-million dollar endowment and maintains the public image of the sponsoring Congregations and CHRISTUS Health.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

Consistently supports Spirit of Serving Standards, in line with the Mission, Vision and values of CHRISTUS Health Gulf Coast Region.

Follows the CHRISTUS Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI)

Promotes a culture of safety for patients and associates through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment.

Serves as the Chief Administrative Officer of the Foundation. Is responsible for the planning, supervision and management of all programs, program development, related fundraising and other Foundation-sponsored activities.

Oversees the development and administration of all programs and fund raising activities of the Foundation. Develops policies and procedures necessary

to

the pursuit of high quality affordable healthcare services, and pursues on-going private, supp1emental support of CHRISTUS Foundation for HealthCare. Reviews the effectiveness of all program and fund raising efforts.

Supervises staff of Foundation in accordance with Human Resources policies, including performance, planning and evaluation, budget management and education/training of staff

Works closely with the leadership of the Foundation Board, keeping the Board informed of the Foundation activities, serves as staff person to the Board Leadership, organizes and oversees information gathering for Board Committees. Presents reports as needed to Executive Committee and Board.

Serves as liaison for the Foundation Board Leadership with System Leadership.

Manages the financial and administrative operations of the Foundation Office. Ensures administrative and financial systems are established to support an effective and accountable program funding and fund raising system.

Maintains professional contact with other institutions, associations and organizations that affect programs.

Initiates and completes major fundraising and capital campaigns. Maintains knowledge of current trends and developments in the area of philanthropy.

Observes all the duties and responsibilities outlined in the Bylaws of the Foundation, especially those in Section 8.06. 

Manages the preparation of the annual budget, goals and objectives for each fiscal year, as well as leads development of the foundations multi-year strategic plan.

A. Education/Skills

Outstanding verbal, written and organizational skills. A self-starter, socially poised, professional and high level of maturity. Ability to lead and work well with others and must support a team spirit and positive attitude. Requires versatility, imagination and be a well-oriented individual. Demonstrates a high degree of interpersonal skills, must be able to supervise individua1s with clarity and fairness. Demonstrates computer technology skills.

B.

Experience

A minimum of ten (10) years experience in the area of health care/philanthropy and program development. Must have supervisory experience, experience as a leader of a similar organization(s) and excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
