Summary:

The Marketing and Event Specialist will facilitate activities related to the marketing of the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department, as well as planning and executing related events. This includes managing, writing and editing the Department newsletters, press releases, articles and other printed and electronic material; managing the Department's communications in social media; maintaining and updating the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department website in coordination with the staff of the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science; coordinating, planning and executing department events; creating fundraising campaigns and events; enhancing student recruitment activities; collecting testimonials, data and statistics for reporting and accreditation purposes; tracking Industrial and Systems Engineering alumni; coordinating with the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department Advisory Council; and other related projects. The Marketing and Event Specialist will coordinate and communicate with the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science staff, Department alumni, Lehigh's development offices and others.



Accountabilities:
  1. Events and meetings
    • Coordinate visits for distinguished lecturers and other important visitors
    • Coordinate, plan, advertise and execute Industrial and Systems Engineering Department events, such as banquets, symposia, conferences, reunions and recruiting events
    • Be available for off-site, evening and weekend events as needed
  2. Content creation
    • Create content for Industrial and Systems Engineering Department newsletters, website, advertisements, brochures, articles, press releases and other material
    • Produce the annual newsletter, annual report, fliers, brochures, posters, social media newsbites about the undergraduate and graduate programs, press releases and articles about student, faculty and staff accomplishments
    • Coordinate photography and videography for printed and digital promotional and informational material
    • Coordinate with the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science's Director of Communications on authoring of articles to be posted on both the department and college websites, as well as social media
    • Collect testimonials, data and statistics for reporting and accreditations purposes
    • Work with the Chair, Associate Chair, faculty and staff to ensure accurate and timely reporting and to ensure continued accreditation of the Departmental programs
  3. Website and signage
    • Assist in updating the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department website, as necessary, in coordination with the staff of the the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science
    • Keep building signage up to date, including posting announcements for events, lectures, seminars and other items of interest to current faculty and students
  4. Social media and communication strategy
    • Develop a strategy for department use of social media and other communication channels
    • Regularly post news and events on appropriate social media channels
    • Communicate news to chairs at other institutions and alumni
  5. Fundraising and alumni engagement
    • Track and engage Department alumni
    • Coordinate meetings with the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department advisory board; coordinate agendas, plan and attend the meeting, take notes and produce meeting minutes
    • Work with the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science's Director of Development, the Development and Alumni offices to coordinate fundraising campaigns for the Industrial and Systems Engineering Department
    • Coordinate, plan and implement Industrial and Systems Engineering Department alumni events, alumni visits and other communications with alumni
    • Visit alumni and external partners as needed
  6. Recruiting and outreach for Co-op, Internship and job placement programs
    • Create printed material for the recruitment of potential Industrial and Systems Engineering Department undergraduate, graduate and Ph.D. students
    • Maintain pages relevant to prospective students on the Departmentwebsite
    • Plan and execute recruiting events for students at all levels
    • Plan and execute events related to high school outreach
    • Assist the P.C. Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science and Admissions offices with recruiting events and printed material as needed
    • Organize networking and job placement events
    • Work with Career Services to provide students with yearly updates on where alumni are currently working, assist with co-op, internship and job placement publicity, fliers and brochures to inform students of opportunities for the semester as needed

Qualifications:
  1. Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience
  2. Three to five years related work experience
  3. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  4. Solid analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
  5. Proven ability to complete projects on time and on budget, and report on status and progress
  6. Solid computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet, database and presentation software
  7. Ability to complete projects on time and on budget, and report on status and progress
  8. Proven ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  9. Successful completion of standard background checks including but not limited to: social security verification, education verification, national criminal background checks, motor vehicle checks and credit history based upon the requirements of the position

Special Considerations:
  • Occasional travel is required
  • Work and presence at events and meetings outside of standard working hours is required.
  • This position is funded by soft dollars; there is no severance associated with this position

FTE: 100%

Grade and Hiring Minimum:
8-40
