Description We are looking for a star Manager candidate (4-6 years of experience) with a passion for media and expertise in enterprise and consumer technology to join the Weber Shandwick New York Technology Team. This is a high profile role where you\u2019ll have the opportunity to act as a day-to-day point of contact for clients across a number of our key accounts, including a major Fortune 15 mobile technology and telecoms brand and a global top 5 IT consultancy. The role offers an exciting opportunity to shape and drive the execution of media strategies around major national and global events, working with national and international teams in collaboration with Weber Shandwick offices across the U.S. and in EMEA. As part of our team, you will have an opportunity to play a key role within truly integrated client programs that both incorporate and go beyond traditional earned media, working with experts across our brand strategy, creative, analytics and digital teams. The role will also offer the opportunity to work closely with senior team leads and drive new programs for clients that help to drive high visibility account growth, offering considerable opportunities for career progression for the right person. We\u2019re looking for someone who knows the media landscape and has strong experience telling stories for corporate\/consumer tech brands; is adept at counseling clients on and executing integrated media relations strategy; and can help manage teams to drive successes aligned to client business goals. The following is a general outline of primary responsibilities. The Essentials Knowing the media landscape: Strong familiarity with the earned media landscape is essential. Know which stories will resonate with which reporters, and be abreast of the latest developments. Creative Thinking: Able to creatively help clients connect their agenda to that of external influencers through story development. Storytelling: Understand the elements that make a story exciting, what brands are doing in the press, and use this knowledge to deliver high value, high impact coverage for clients. Trusted advisor: Act as an expert partner to clients, delivering sound counsel on media strategy and tactics. Management: Manage teams to achieve client objectives. Meet deadlines, put out fires and multi-task. Work fast, and work well. Communication: Speak, write and edit succinctly and compellingly. Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering clear and precise work is essential.\u00a0 Interpersonal: Play nice, whether it\u2019s in a team, with a team or independently. Responsibilities\u00a0 Integrated Media Relations and Writing Craft integrated media strategies for major campaigns and product launches Brainstorm and pitch compelling ideas for media and influencer pitch efforts Monitor media outlets for coverage of client news and competitor developments Understand industry issues that directly and indirectly affect the client Compose basic integrated media plans and contribute to plan development processes Develop proposals, releases, customer profiles, newsroom blogs, bylined articles, supporting social content and other press materials Proof and edit client related documents as needed Creatively\u00a0and proactively\u00a0develop media programs Take responsibility to execute media relations strategies Manage\u00a0and build\u00a0relationships with media Mine current news cycle for ad hoc media opportunities Lead story mining sessions with senior clients Mentor junior staff Client & Team Engagement Communicate with clients on daily basis Provide basic client counsel Serve as a key participant in client meetings and presentations Conduct and manage the flow of research and work materials necessary to analyze client issues Manage client and team resources and deliverables around major campaigns and product launches Qualifications Basic Qualifications: 1-2 years management experience leading small groups and projects 4-6 years of experience in PR\/communications role with expertise in writing, plan development, media relations strategy and execution, event management, speaking and awards submissions, social content, measurement, and monitoring Bachelor's Degree Strong experience with both large-scale and start-up business environments preferred Additional Qualifications: Computer proficiency in PowerPoint, Excel and Word Collaborative work style\u00a0 Strong time and priority management skills and an ability to juggle multiple client needs Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment, work in a team and meet deadlines Ability to communicate information effectively and accurately, verbally or in writing A high level of integrity and sensitivity to confidential information A strong work ethic and an ability to be a self-starter About Weber Shandwick Weber Shandwick is a leading global communications and engagement firm in 78 cities across 34 countries and operations extending to 126 cities in 81 countries.
