As a key member within the Minimally Invasive Therapies Group (MITG), the person in this role will drive and support MITG external communications with a focus on proactive public relations/media campaigns and managing business issues. This position reports into the Director, MITG External Communications.

A Day in the Life:
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
Collaborate with MITG communications team members (Communications Business Partners, Internal Communications, Marketing Communications) to ensure integrated strategic communications plans are created and executed for the business.
Partner with key Medtronic and MITG stakeholders: Global Communications, Business Leadership teams, Operations, Marketing, Government Affairs, Human Resources, Legal, Clinical, Regulatory Affairs and Investor Relations to ensure alignment in a global matrix organization.
Manages strategy development and produces content aimed at external audiences that supports greater business impact.
Creates strategic external relations plans to build reputation, thought leadership, and advocacy to drive business impact and results for Medtronic.
Proactively shapes the company's identity through traditional and new media channels - paid, earned, shared, and owned.
Advances the company narrative to media and other external audiences as defined, which may involve the strategic conceptualization and execution of creative (PR) campaigns.
Helps lead Communications strategy and response development through issues or crisis to protect the company's reputation.
Proactively scan the landscape to identify potential issues before they become a crisis and create strategic recommendations for MITG Communications Business Partners and their business presidents on how to address them.
Oversees and executes the writing, editing and approval of event scripts, speeches, key documents and reports, promotional materials, press releases, interviews, FAQs and other external communications vehicles as defined.
Serve as a MITG Communications point person and spokesperson for media inquiries. Provide MITG senior leaders with key messages, as necessary.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements:
Years of Experience:
7 years of progressive corporate or agency communications experience with a Bachelor's Degree; or, 5 years with a Master's Degree
Nice to Have:
Bachelor's Degree in communications, business, marketing or related field.
Strong writing and presentation skills.
Significant interpersonal and stakeholder alignment capability.
Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
Ability to work with complex and sensitive information.
Healthcare industry experience preferred.
Proven ability to comprehend and translate business strategies into clear communications for external audiences.
Knowledge of social and digital media engagement.
Knowledge of financial communications and investor relations.
