Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Communications professional to plan and execute communications strategies for the National Nuclear Security Administration’s (NNSA) Pantex Plant near Amarillo, Texas. As a member of the Pantex team, the position will interface with employees and the public to ensure communications of CNS and Pantex mission activities, progress, initiatives, and community involvement. The position reports to the CNS Pantex Site Communications manager.
Specific Job Responsibilities
Applicant will support the Consolidated Nuclear Security, LLC (CNS) enterprise (nearly 8,000 employees across two sites)
Develops strategies, messaging, and tactics for communicating site- and enterprise-wide initiatives as driven by the Chief Executive Officer, members of the Executive Leadership Team, Pantex Site manager, and the senior director of Communications.
Contributes to the development of comprehensive communications campaigns, including change communications, and will collaborate with members of the Communications organization to develop the necessary tools for these campaigns.
Produces a variety of written and visual CNS communications vehicles, including intranet content, news releases, social media, manager/supervisor tool kits, infographics, leadership messages, internal newscasts, digital signage, and others.
Provides input into crisis planning and issues management.
Integrates Pantex site communications with CNS enterprise communications to ensure site perspectives are considered and integrated with enterprise communications.
Maintains frequent contact with all levels of the CNS Pantex organization including executive management in coordinating internal and external communications programs.
Establishes and maintains contact with community and civic leaders as well as senior management and industry peers for companies in Amarillo and the Texas Panhandle region.
Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends to support company-sponsored events and volunteer activities.
Experience serving with/on emergency preparedness and response public information teams a plus.
Must possess the ability to handle confidential business information and material with discretion. Must be able to work in a fast-paced team environment. Ability to work in a cross-functional, matrixed organization and collaborate with subject matter experts at all levels of the CNS organization.
Specific Job Knowledge & Training Required
Knowledge of communications and administrative activities; demonstrated ability to present both oral and written information clearly and effectively; strong public speaking skills; effective decision making skills; ability to appropriately interact with all levels of employees, community leaders, news media representatives and senior level government officials; ability to make recommendations to effectively resolve problems or issues consistent with Work Instructions, practices, policies, procedures, DOE requirements, and health, safety, and security standards. Must possess excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint applications and publication software. Must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to handle confidential material with discretion. Familiarity with common style guides (e.g., AP Stylebook) is preferred.
Education & Relevant Experience
A minimum of 5 years of experience with a Bachelors' degree in Communications, Public Relations, English, Political Science, Marketing or related field. Typical relevant experience ranging from 7 to 15 years. Previous experience working at Department of Energy or Department of Defense facilities is preferred. This position requires a Q clearance; however, all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status.
