Job Description
The Sr. Policy Communications Manager is responsible for building and executing our public policy communication's strategies in order to enhance the association's external policy profile targeted at tech influencers, policymakers, members and prospects. The day-to-day functions of this role will include developing, promoting and socializing content through our PSA communication channels.
This role reports into the VP of Marketing & Communications and will work closely with the policy staff, policy membership team, CompTIA's research division, PR firm and all centralized supporting functions across CompTIA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Public Relations
Works with PR firm to amplify our media coverage through social media, blog and website. Shares all PR coverage internally and externally.
Accountable for amplifying earned coverage through social media, newsletters, policy communications committee and other promotional avenues.
Assists in managing our Policy Communication's Committee.
Reports on analytics and metrics.
Develops and manages the policy blog strategy and editorial content including content creation, promotion and analytics. Works collaboratively across the policy team to build a monthly editorial calendar
Manages the production of policy content.
Promotes all editorial content.
Ensures all content is optimized for SEO keywords.
Posts all content.
Reports on analytics and metrics.
Social Media
Develops and executes content to drive our thought leadership and amplify our voice and expand our reach via Twitter, Facebook and LinkedIn. Amplifies all earned coverage through social channels.
Builds social content to drive the policy and membership message.
Works with creative services to develop creative assets.
Posts all content.
Reports on analytics and metrics.
Takes ownership of the CompTIA Advocacy and Engage Website (grass roots advocacy platform). Accountable for developing and updating content to ensure websites are up-to-date with timely and relevant content.
Works with creative services to help secure imagery for site.
Works with IS on all technical glitches and issues.
Manages the engage database.
Implements SEO keyword strategy.
Reports on analytics and metrics.
Develops derivative content (in the form of articles, videos, other snack-able deliverables) to support our policy mission, research data and membership messaging.
Supports the Policy Staff on a day to day basis with communication functions like presentations, speaking points, letters etc.
Supports all events through the above channels.
Required Skills
Must have experience developing and managing editorial calendars to support both blog and social media platforms.
Must have experience writing, managing and promoting blog content.
Must have a solid understanding of social media and how it should be used to help amplify our voice.
Must have experience packaging and promoting research data.
Must have an understanding of SEO strategy and planning.
Must provide a portfolio of content.
Must provide writing samples.
Required Experience
Must have 5-8 years experience working in policy communications or policy.
Member association experience is a plus.
Experience working with creative resources to package content.
Experience managing SEO firm and strategies.
Experience packaging research and insights to drive editorial strategies and content.
