What you’ll be doing...
This position will report to the Associate Director, Sponsorship & Activation
The Manager, Verizon Wireless Local Sponsorship will play a key role in supporting all local market sponsorship and events across the country. We are looking for a passionate marketer to provide leadership, guidance and decision making to our six local marketing teams to ensure all partnerships are aligned with national strategy as well as the Verizon brand. The ideal candidate will work alongside the local teams to understand each markets realities, needs and customer targets. The position works cross-functionally to source requests and help fulfill local market demands as they arise. You will work with the activation team where needed to help bring local events to life. This role will also interact with external agency partners to review and evaluate proposals. You will also be responsible for cataloguing and recapping all local events with the help of the local market team.
Local Market Sponsorship Strategy
Work with the Executive and Associate Director to align national and local market strategy.
Accountable for day-to-day interaction with local market and integrated marketing teams including leading team calls.
Provide direction and execute on brand partnerships.
Drive local market decisions to ensure alignment to strategy.
Local Market Expertise
Become a go-to leader from headquarters for all local market sponsorship needs.
Engrain yourself with the local market teams to understand market priorities, gaps, and micro-target strategies.
Keep up with local market trends including Verizon priority and protect market changes.
Work closely with media team assigned to local markets to understand full range of support.
Tap into internal groups to lend further support on event activation.
Become the internal expert on all local market activity; including building and maintaining a catalog of up to 100 events for easy reference.
Build executive briefing documents, presentations and event recaps.
Analyze and review sponsorship proposals and manage timely responses in fast-paced environment.
Make recommendations and provide contract negotiation support.
Work with external agencies to evaluate contract proposals where necessary.
What we’re looking for...
You’ll need to have:
Bachelor’s degree or four or more years of work experience.
Six or more years of relevant work experience.
Even better if you have:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Advertising or Communications.
Five or more years of professional experience in marketing or related communications field.
Deep understanding of wireless industry and competitors.
Contract negotiation skills including knowledge of the legal process from draft to execution.
Strong critical thinking, judgment and decision-making skills; ability to make tough and difficult decisions and gain consensus.
Ability to work well in team environment and autonomously with a strong attention to detail in a fast-changing environment.
Ability to complete important time sensitive tasks, adapt quickly to last minute changes and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Agency management skills.
Can-do attitude, high energy and good sense of urgency.
Excellent verbal and writing skills.
Proficiency in software programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Strong ability to write recap decks, and prove out ROI.
Willingness to travel - Minimal travel (0-10%).
