The Communications Manager is responsible for supporting all activities associated with Corporate
Communications. The Communications Manager will support the SVP Corporate Services with activities
including press release identification and writing, developing the employee newsletter, company brand
management, issues and crisis communications management and project support to internal customers
for communications needs such as presentations, employee communications and marketing efforts.
This position will provide corporate communications services and support to the Houston office and
international shore-based locations.
Qualifications and Experience
*Bachelor's Degree in Communications, English, or other relevant area or *Experience in the oil and gas industry preferred *7+ years of relevant experience *Prior exposure to investor relations preferred *Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment and competing demands *Demonstrated ability to work independently and with minimal supervision *Strong organizational skills and attention to detail *Demonstrated experience in vendor and project management *Must be able to provide examples of independently developed, professional written content *Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word and PowerPoint *Must have excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and have the ability to establish and maintain effective work relationships with the general public and all levels of staff
Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities
*Comply with Pacific Drilling Code of Conduct and supporting policies, standards and applicable process documentation. *Perform all work according to agreed expectations of both internal and external customers, focus on doing things right first time, every time and contribute actively to continual improvement activities.
External Communications Responsibilities:
*Support public relations efforts as needed, including developing and distributing press releases, key messages, Questions & Answers, media statements, presentations, videos and surveys. *Identify, develop and write press releases. *Help develop and implement processes and systems to effectively manage media inquiries. *Research and respond to media inquiries, as appropriate, or direct to the appropriate party. *Support activities regarding issues management and crisis communications. *Serve as member of Crisis Communications Team. *Work closely with functional and business colleagues to ensure alignment of internal and external communications. *Contribute to the creation and execution of public relations plans that raise the profile of the company. *Develop and implement branding management processes and procedures to ensure appropriate use of the company brand by third parties. *Manage external website.
Internal Communications Responsibilities:
*Serve as developer and contributor for corporate internal communication print and electronic vehicle content. *Promote employee engagement and workplace productivity by ensuring an appropriate mix of content across vehicles, highlighting company strategies, culture, values and news. *Work closely with business and functional leadership in order to identify stories, investigate and develop content for a variety of internal communications, including newsletters, website, internal announcements, town hall meetings, etc. *Manage and ensure adherence to corporate design and editorial standards to ensure consistency of messaging, style and tone. *Review and edit company communications, including email communications and presentations, generated by internal business partners, as required. *Stay abreast of company events and announcements and alert team to potential issues and/or opportunities.
