You like getting to the heart of a good story - and the idea of getting it on the news or going viral on social media sounds exciting. If this is you, the North Carolina Education Lottery's communications team wants you to apply to join us for your summer internship. The internship provides the opportunity to handle a range of duties and responsibilities in a professional environment. Responsibilities:Assist with daily media report by gathering clips of media reports on the lotteryInterview big winners and draft media releases highlighting winner storiesReport and write newsletter articles on the benefits of the lottery to education programAssist Digital Communications Specialist with preparing content for NCEL's social media channels and nclottery.com blogComplete special projects to support NCEL's communications programPerform other duties as requiredQualifications:Current enrollment in an undergraduate program with an interest in communications and public relationsProficient in the use of Microsoft Office, internet applications, and content management systemsProficient with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTubeStrong interpersonal skills, excellent written and verbal communication skillsExcellent organization skills and attention to detailAbility to carry out assigned projects to completionAbility to maintain a high level of confidentialityGoals: Master art of interviewing winners and producing stories about their wins. By end of internship, produce at least three media releases with bylines and show earned media captured for each. Build professional portfolio with examples of social media content and blogs that can support resume when applying for communications or P.R. jobs upon graduation. Goal is to produce four blogs, and a variety of social media posts.Majors: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism Criteria:Applicants must: Be currently enrolled in an accredited NC college or university;Be a full time undergraduate studentDeadline to apply: March 9, 2018$11 per hourJune 4, 2018 - July 27, 2018 (8 week program)Interviews are expected to be held the last two weeks of March About the North Carolina Education Lottery We raise money for a great cause!
