OVERVIEW OF POSITION:
The Internal Communications Manager is a key member of HealthCare Partners’ Communications team. He/she will support the organization’s efforts to inform, align and engage teammates to carry out the company vision, mission, values, guiding principles, goals and key organizational initiatives. He/she will develop and implement strategic internal communications plans including print and digital vehicles, content, and messaging. He/she is a superb writer who produces clear, concise and compelling communications for varied audiences. He/she will research, develop and implement communications policies, processes, tools and vehicles to improve teammate and physician communications and support leadership communications. He/she will build relationships and processes to obtain, develop and package content to bring our story to life for teammates and celebrate accomplishments, awards, and milestones on an ongoing basis. He/she will provide strategic and creative communications counsel for internal clients.
Develop and implement internal communications plan(s) to further teammate understanding, alignment, and engagement around mission, vision, values, and guiding principles as well as key organizational goals and initiatives, partnering w/key business partners such as People Services, and Operations to ensure clarity and consistency across the organization.
Gather content to write and edit a wide variety of complex messages/communication pieces for a variety of audiences inclusive of leadership communications to teammates.
In partnership with IT, play a leading role in the ongoing development of the company intranet, to ensure content is engaging, timely, relevant, and user-friendly.
Represent HealthCare Partners California in cross-market and enterprise-wide activities, and build relationships to share and leverage best practices.
Work in collaboration with in-house agency, video team, other communications teammates, and freelance talents for communication projects.
Build and implement communications plans and related messaging (eg emails, talking points, presentations, FAQs, video scripts) for varied initiatives.
Represent the Communications department on varied company initiatives to provide strategic communications counsel and support as appropriate.
Manage multi-way teammate feedback.
Define and implement applicable metrics for internal communication.
Use, protect, and disclose HCP patients’ protected health information (PHI) only in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) standards.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field
Master’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, English or related field is preferred
At least 7 years of internal communications experience; preferably in an in-house corporate communications department
Comfortable working with all levels of the organization to identify, understand, and address communication needs including those related to organizational change initiatives.
Healthcare experience is a plus
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
A proven ability to develop and implement strategic communications plans, vehicles, media, and messaging for a wide variety of initiatives.
Excellent writing and editing skills with the ability to translate corporate strategy into compelling, credible communications for a variety of media/vehicles and audiences. A strong command of grammar, spelling and familiarity with both business and AP-style writing.
Must share a portfolio reflecting creative, conceptual thinking and writing samples for corporate/internal communication.
Broad experience in deploying communications best practices and using internal communications channels.
New media savvy—Knowledge/interest in exploring new channels and/or opportunities to bring internal content to life.
Excellent interpersonal, organizational, project management and client relation skills as well as the ability to independently manage projects and deadlines.
Strategic thinker and project leader with good judgment; knows how to develop appropriate communications solutions for the challenge at hand.
Detail and process-oriented along with the ability to see the big picture and navigate change and ambiguity.
Computer-literate with Microsoft Office program skills.
Content Management System experience and familiarity with email delivery platforms (e.g., Poppulo) is a plus.
