Job Description:
General Summary:
Leads the department efforts with media coordination, game day professional staff supervision, and social media management for all Athletic and special department events. Assists in the development management and coordination of all functions necessary to efficiently provide sports information services for the SPU Intercollegiate Athletic Program.
Serves as a member of the Athletics Senior Management Team in developing departmental programs and in policy and procedural decisions.
Oversees the planning and implementation of athletic communication efforts to develop awareness and create a high-quality entertainment venue. Actively publicizes athletic events using various media including social media, electronic mail, and website content.
Oversees department social media and graphic efforts in promotion of athletic events and student athlete success.
Coordinates and supervises staff and operational needs for effective event management including pre-game music, stats crew, PA announcements and oversight of the livestream for all games and contests.
Supervises Asst SID position, delegating tasks and managing the department's overall sports information and communication efforts. At the discretion of the AD, may also have sport supervision responsibility.
Oversight of graphic design student worker and lead graphic design efforts for website, social media, and print materials to ensure consistent, engaging, and relevant branding using multiple visual platforms.
Nominates athletes for various academic awards at the conference, regional and national level.
Oversees all aspects of spufalcons.com. Ensure website is current and regularly updated in all facets including team information, team rosters and headshots, bios of athletes coaches and staff, etc.
Official spokesperson for SPU Intercollegiate Athletic Program, actively promoting and publicizing all aspects of the department.
Initiates and maintains professional relationships with local, regional and select national media representatives (radio, television, newspaper, magazines, etc.).
Maintains communication with University Communication department for campus needs.
Shared oversight of SPU Media Days for student athletes.
Provides required statistics and media materials for all teams and all post-season championship athletic events.
Engages the University community by participating in campus activities to include faculty meetings, all-staff meetings, chapels, forums, retreats and other opportunities for building relationships and advocating Athletics.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree required, master's degree a plus.
3 years of collegiate sports communication work or similar related experience.
Willingness to actively support the Christian mission of the University and accept the life-style standards of the Christian Community.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coaches, athletes, students, faculty, administration and the community.
Experience in/familiarity with Genius Stats, StatCrew, SportStat Illustrator, Photoshop, social media. Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.

Salary: DOE
This is a full time position with excellent benefits. SPU pays the employee premium for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
