The Senior Communication Specialist/Writer reports to the VP of Individual Solutions Group (ISG) Executive Communications with the goal of delivering writing/editing services that support the ISG Communications Strategy. This role provides writing, editing, proofreading, executive communications, business communications, message development, project support, and other general business communications for the ISG team, in liaison with Employee Engagement. Serves as lead writer/editor and AP/Prudential style specialist for the team. Delivers writing support and key message development for the Head of Individual Solutions and Senior Leaderships' direct reports as needed. Supports ad hoc project work for the ISG Communications team as needed. Drafts internal copy for intranet site and Prudential channels, plus external communications as needed.

Strong writing ability and 10 years of experience as freelance or corporate writer.

Proficiency in all types of business writing, including article/web site writing, corporate-level writing, executive writing, message development, project writing, editing, proofreading, video scriptwriting, execute quote writing, presentation writing, and speechwriting.

Excellent teamwork, communication, and relationship management skills.

Able to articulate the corporate narrative and tell a compelling story.

Ability to take complex or dense content and streamline into clear messaging for intended audience to promote understanding and engagement.

Knowledge of AP style/Prudential writing style.

Capable of managing multiple priorities and meeting project plan deadlines in fast-paced business environment.

Adept at creating copy for PowerPoint presentations, leader guides, intranet, message boards, message panels, and other communication tools. 

Ability to proactively research and constantly learn about a wide range of business topics.

Intuitive understanding of various audience levels and reader expectations.

Comfortable in recommending alternative messaging or enhancements to existing messaging.

Background in web site or intranet content writing a plus.

Wide range of business knowledge, executive messaging, and corporate writing experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in English, Creative Writing, Journalist, or related field required.
