SUMMARY:
The
Community Relations
Multimedia Communication Specialist will support
rnrn
the District’s Family Engagement and Community Relations efforts via the
rnrn
District’s
multimedia
communication channels, including web and social media.
The Community
Relations Multimedia Communication Specialist will
assist in promoting a positive brand image
of
the
District
to students, families and the community.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
rnrn
Assist in supporting and enhancing the District’s website (Blackboard CMS platform) and social
media platforms to ensure accuracy and consistency among the District’s web page, individual
school web pages and social media.
rn
rn
Monitors, posts and maintains the district-wide web page and other web pages as assigned for
the purpose of effectively and efficiently disseminating information to district staff and the
community.
rn
rn
Assists with implementation of advertising and marketing strategies on social media.
rn
rn
Design and/or create graphics for print and web projects to meet specific promotional and
advertising needs of the District and/or any of our schools.
rn
rn
Create graphics and marketing materials for supervisor’s approval (including, but not limited to
rn
print and digital: advertisements, flyers, posters, banners, web graphics, newsletters, powerpoint presentations, maps, logos, direct mailing and other support materials.)
rn
rn
Assist with creation of templates for letters and flyers for schools, to provide brand consistency of
internal and external communications.
rn
rn
Support the work of the Family Engagement Coordinators
in promoting
family and community
engagement opportunities, programs, meetings and events.
rn
rn
Provides photography for District and school events to post on web and social media.
rn
rn
Supervise coordinators/interns/administrative assistant.
rn
rn
Perform
other job duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:
rnrn
Associate of Arts Degree and/or Bachelors
degree preferred
with
professional training
in graphic design, school communication, website maintenance
, social media, public relations, community relations, and/or journalism.
rnrn
rnrn
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES (Preferred):
rnrn
Ability to update website (Blackboard CMS Platform).
rn
rn
Ability to write and post on social media on a Knowledge of social media best practices, web design & development and content management systems and project management.
rn
rn
Knowledge or Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, etc).
rn
rn
Ability to create graphic design elements for print and digital.
rn
rn
Knowledge of graphic design principles, Font types, Design, Graphics and a wide variety of media, and production methods, with basic knowledge of black and white, RGB and CMYK color systems.
rn
rn
Knowledge of use of Scanner, Digital Camera, PC and MAC, Web Graphics, A/V equipment and production.
rn
rn
Ability
to
use computer, Microsoft Office, with a high level of profeciency.
rn
rn
Ability
to
explain
District
issues, practices,
and
procedures
in
a
logical
and
concise
manner.

Highly organized and detail oriented.
rn
rn
Excellent oral and written communication skills; communicates professionally with the ability to write District correspondence and publications.

Ability to use good judgement in establishing priorities and making decisions in the absence of specific direction.

Team player, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the District staff, administrators, media, parents, and the community.

Ability to use discretion in releasing or distributing confidential information.

Capable of working independently and across workgroups.

Ability to troubleshoot website and website CMS issues that arise.

Bilingual English and Spanish preferred but not necessary.

EXPERIENCE:

Two to three years
of
job
related
professional experience including
graphic design, brand management, education/school communication, website maintenance
, social media, public relations,
and/or
journalism.

environment
is
primarily
an
office
setting,
with
some
travel
between
the
District
office and schools.
