As part of the Internet Strategy & Web Services Team, the Director of Digital Content Marketing reports to the Senior Director of Internet Strategy. The role is responsible for the global enterprise content strategy including written copy and digital media created directly by this unit and in collaboration with other units. Assets include health content, informational and operational content, physician information, and additional assets to be distributed via web sites, social media, content partnerships and other distribution mechanisms. The Director of Digital Content Marketing collaborates with the Senior Director of Internet Strategy and Digital Content Marketing to align and document strategic content priorities with the Strategic Plan and the supporting Strategic Digital Plan for Johns Hopkins Medicine and to create a digital-first approach to the content life cycle. The position directs workflows to drive efficiency, standards and creativity.

Bachelor's Degree in English, Communications, or Journalism or related field. Equivalent experience beyond the work experience requirement may be substituted on a 2:1 basis. Medical or health-related institution and Web writing experience. Marketing communications or corporate communications writing and editing experience. Demonstrated knowledge and results of search engine optimized sites that rank high on major search engines for relevant key words. Knowledge of HTML, understanding how copy translates to code. A minimum of 6 years of related experience is required. Prior project management experience as a team lead preferred.Self-motivated, detail oriented, results-driven personality. Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills and an ability to write clear, concise copy. Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environment. Solid teamwork skills. Strong work ethic. Ability to operate independently. Ability to utilize Microsoft applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint. Ability to travel locally as needed. Working knowledge and experience using content management systems, social media tools, and related Web applications

This position leads content strategy from creation to governance in order to develop meaningful interactive experiences for the audiences of Johns Hopkins Medicine. The Director develops and implements work plans and measures against established standards. Proactively monitors key performance indicators and makes real-time adjustments to ensure goal accomplishment. The position leverages analytics, industry and audience research, and other available insights to inform strategy, identify opportunity and evaluate performance, while leading a unit that fosters communication and creativity to create opportunities for best work. This role directs an internal team of managers, content specialists, multimedia specialists, and coordinates the activities of external contractors. This role oversees a strategy that coordinates content with the digital media group, editorial services, design, clinical and institutional marketing and other creative units within M&C and across the institution. The role demands strategic thinking, a collaborative nature that inspires creative thinking and problem-solving, the ability to direct and manage a high-performing unit as well as to create opportunities for peers and distributed content creators.
