About the Communications Team
Our Communications team is charged with establishing and growing national and greater Silicon Valley awareness, affinity, and adoption of Thumbtack among targeted audiences -- existing and new customers, the business community, employees and candidates -- as a result of focused communications and media coverage. We achieve this through consistency, truth, strategical sharing of new products, services, seasonal opportunities, great pro and customer stories, data/surveys, and internal expertise with members of the media.
About the Role
This critical role on the Communications team will help establish Thumbtack as the app to hire a local professional for almost anything among targeted consumer media. The right candidate will help us achieve this through sourcing and vetting Thumbtack professionals for media interviews and tips, influencers and celebrities, seasonal campaigns, events and programs. Additionally, this candidate will be flexible and possess strong organizational skills, excellent verbal and written communication and the ability to work collaboratively with both internal audiences and external public relations agencies. Depending on the candidate we will consider whether the role will be scoped at an associate or coordinator level.
Media relations with support from internal team and consumer PR agency
Internal resource for consumer PR agency, to drive efficiencies and effectiveness
Holiday and seasonal consumer pitches and photoshoots with support from internal photo team
Messaging of Thumbtack among consumer press to drive brand awareness, understanding and adoption
Amplify the profile of key executives through relevant speaking opportunities and events, with a special focus on female executives
Work directly with Thumbtack’s Community Specialist in Salt Lake City to source the very best Thumbtack professionals for media requests and event staffing, proactively and reactively
Manage performance and optimize our strategies by assisting with weekly reports, the press coverage tracker, pros for press list and leveraging metrics that help size the impact of our public relations efforts - utilize available media monitoring tools (incl. Critical Mention, Cision, etc.)
1-2 years of experience in the Communications field, but will consider recent college graduates
Media relations savvy
Excellent written and oral communication skills
