Interfaces with customers to understand, scope, and execute documentation efforts. Functions as project leader or mentor for technical writers. Researches, plans, designs, writes, formats, edits, formally validates, and prepares for distribution a wide variety of technical documents, including manuals, procedures, quick reference guides, checklists, data sheets, and interactive forms. Technical documents developed are used in support of mechanical, electrical\/electronic, technical, and engineering activities. Researches engineering materials, interviews subject matter experts, performs hands-on examination of equipment, and coordinates documentation efforts from initial concept to final product. Performs research to obtain an understanding of the subject matter Creates documentation from research; organizes, edits, or rewrites information to conform to established formats, using appropriate methods to assure optimum communication value Works independently with relevant customers to develop procedures Identifies and resolves documentation issues, including problems with procedures, concepts, organization, presentation, and usability; proposes solutions to stakeholders Manages and facilitates formal document validations that include customers, quality, engineers, technicians, mechanics, safety, security, and others Evaluates client technical and operational objectives and programs. Negotiates with stakeholders to create and meet project schedules Guides the use of document management systems for stakeholders Leads project teams, to include recommending and implementing changes to the procedure development manual Assures conformance with document development policies and procedures regarding the formal approval system Interacts daily\/weekly with internal and external customers to obtain product\/deliverable requirements, to gather or create information for document development, and to secure approvals from customer stakeholders YOU MUST HAVE Bachelor's degree in English, communications, journalism, or a technical discipline with an emphasis on technical communication OR combination of formal education and four years of experience as a technical writer in lieu of a degree\u00a0 Three years of experience in progressive positions and\/or proven experience as a technical writer. US Citizenship in order to obtain and maintain a DOE-Q level clearance WE VALUE Demonstrated successful interpersonal communication skills Extensive experience with Microsoft Word and Adobe Acrobat Some experience leading others. Proven expertise in document development, to include demonstrated writing, editing, formatting, and proofreading skills. Experience with decision making and problem solving Correct grammar and language skills Must have or be eligible for a security clearance due to contractual requirements.
