Capital Group’s Public Relations team’s mission is to raise Capital Group and American Funds’ voice in the marketplace and strengthen and protect the reputation of the organization.
The Public Relations Senior specialist located in Los Angeles, will be a key member of the Public Relations team helping Capital Group proactively or reactively tell its story through media, social channels and influencer engagement. The qualified candidate will strategically enhance the engagement of Capital Group and the American Funds’ brand with industry media and financial press.
Help to develop a media relations strategy and execution plan on Capital Group/American Funds’ investment approach with targeted publications and outlets, use of leadership, issue identification and proposed positioning/narrative
Strategically enhance the engagement of Capital Group and the American Funds brand in the industry media and financial press by contributing to messaging, exhibiting keen judgment and tracking industry trends
Proactively manage select relationships with key journalists and influencers. Manage internal relationships with key senior leadership and support media preparation, training and coaching
Collaborate with internal business partners (Marketing, Product Management, Compliance and Client Analytics) to enhance Capital Group’s overall communication strategy
Responsible for ensuring measurement and reporting processes are in place to assess and provide results on a regular basis
A minimum of 8 years of media relations expertise, including management of campaigns and media relationships, preferably in a financial services/asset management environment or PR agency with name brand clients
Ability to interact comfortably with journalists on a one-to-one basis
Demonstrated ability in developing effective media strategies in both traditional and digital environments
Outstanding written communication and editing skills
Strong listening ability with creative, analytical and strategic skills
Self-starter with the ability to initiate thoughtful projects and see them through to completion
Demonstrates sound judgment while operating with a sense of urgency
Bachelor’s degree required
