JOB SUMMARY The vision of the Consumer Public Relations organization is to reach Next Gen travelers through visible targeted media placements in key global markets. The Director, Public Relations Experiential, Partnerships Content plays a key role in strategizing, planning and executing the development of consumer public relations strategies through a variety of vehicles that yield image-building exposure for Marriott's brands, experiential marketing/buzz activations, partnerships and strategic alliances, and the Global Content Studio. This leader executes proactive PR campaigns resulting in quality media placements in global target markets for brands and its related partnerships and content that engage travelers and next gen audiences. Additionally, this role partners with the Vice President, Global Head of Consumer Public Relations to leverage executives and thought leadership concepts to further the profile of consumer initiatives and attract new partners. CANDIDATE PROFILE Education and Experience Preferred 4-year degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or related major 8 years of relevant professional experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance. Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of consumer media, established network of media contacts particularly in lifestyle, entertainment, sports, food and fashion Experience working with international organizations/companies across a wide variety of verticials (e.g. sports, entertainment, financial services, CPG, fashion and culinary), specifically having a working knowledge of partnerships/sponsorship marketing Experience with talent management, including scoping the terms of the agreement, briefing the talent for media, and staffing/pitching Demonstrated experience in identifying, evaluating and pitching senior leaders for key events across travel, marketing, digital, technology, entertainment and media events Proficient in social media and relationships with cultural influencers Experience with leading PR organization as well as sourcing PR agencies International experience a plus CORE WORK ACTIVITIES Public Relations Strategy and Program Management Leads Consumer PR planning and delivery, from strategy development to opportunistic initiatives and major events as well as ongoing, daily PR implementation, related to experiential marketing/buzz activations, Partnerships and Content. Manages the PR strategy and related activities and initiatives, including development of annual PR strategic plans, including campaigns, platforms, messaging, positioning and content that promotes the experiential marketing/buzz activations and Content Marketing efforts. Collaborates with the other Consumer PR team members to maximize exposure of key Buzz and Content stories by collaborating with loyalty, portfolio or brand stories or activations. Creates and pitches original, proactive PR campaign concepts to strategically build image within consumer travel and lifestyle, entertainment, sports, food and fashion outlets. Identifies, evaluates and pitches senior leaders for speaking events across high profile travel, marketing, digital, technology, entertainment and media events Identifies emerging trends in Consumer PR that can drive results and actively evolves teamwork to leverage new vehicles. Delivers excellent writing, message development, media training for spokespeople. Partners with PR team members in other offices and around the world to collaborate on key initiatives. Manages partnerships and agreements with external publicists and PR agency resources to amplify results. Effectively manages available budget and resources.
