Job Summary:Reporting to the Vice President of Corporate Affairs, the Manager, Communications, manages the development and execution of communication plans that support ECMC Group’s strategies and is responsible for the day-to-day execution, tracking, and reporting of programs and initiatives as well as management of the corporate communications staff.\r
As the Manager, Communications, you will:Be a strong leader! Lead and develop a high-performing communications team in achieving our mission of helping students succeed.Be strategic! Create and manage an internal and external communication plan which supports the organization’s strategic plan and ensures consistent, quality communication to all key audiences.Be a top-notch writer! Create a range of materials to explain who we are and what we do. Edit and proofread communications to ensure they are clear, concise, and consistent.Be creative! Direct the creation of materials across a range of formats and channels, including print, multimedia, and web to meet agreed-upon communications objectives.Be innovative! Identify and implement new and improved communication processes.Be a team player! Collaborate with leaders and support executives in various communications, events, and meetings.Be a good financial steward! Manage the communications budget and accurately estimate the costs of communication deliverablesBe a brand ambassador! Establish and maintain a high-quality, consistent brand presence to ensure that constituents understand the mission and story of ECMC Group and its affiliates.Be a project leader extraordinaire! Oversee project scope and resource availability; anticipate and recommend solutions to project issues; work closely with project sponsors.Comply with all ECMC Group PoliciesPerform other duties as assigned\r

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE   Bachelor’s Degree in journalism, communication, marketing communications, or in a related field or equivalent relevant work experience3 years of experience leading a successful communications team5 years of experience in the communication field with writing experience and project management experience for on-line, print, and marketing communication\r
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS and ABILITIES    Strong leadership, collaboration and relationship management skillsExcellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work with individuals of all professional levelsExcellent written, verbal and presentation communication skillsUnderstands branding concepts and has worked with brand guidelines/standardsConceptual thinker; experienced in developing high-impact, results-driven communications and marketing materials and moving from concept to completion; expertise in maintaining flexibility in a fast-paced, team-oriented environmentExperience developing written materials including: messaging guidelines, presentations, memos, stories and information updates; proficiency managing vendors for the design, development, preparation and distribution of publications where necessary.Ability to write about and/or conceptualize the presentation of complex topics in an engaging styleProven organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with competing priorities and meet deadlines. Project management certification a plus. Must be able to work both independently and as part of a team.Creative thinker with the ability to rapidly understand the business and project objectivesAble to work in and bring structure to ambiguous environmentsStrong problem solving skillsExtremely detail orientedSkill balancing business needs and quality of deliverables in conjunction with deadlines, budget constraints and resources and reaching decisions that make good business senseMust have a high level of competency using computer systems including databases, word processing, desktop publishing and design software, and project management softwareStrong knowledge and skills working in a computer-based office suite environment; Microsoft Windows or Mac OfficeDisplays and promotes high standards of ethical conduct and behaviors consistent with organizational and government standards\r
ADDITIONAL PERTINENT INFORMATION:Work is normally performed in a typical interior/office environmentRequired to work normal hours to successfully perform the job responsibilitiesMay need to work nights and weekends to complete assignmentsFrequently subjected to interruptions, multiple calls and inquiriesThe noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderateMinimal travel may be required (less than 10% of the time)
