Job Summary

Paycor’s Internal Communications Manager will play a critical role in supporting the company’s internal messaging and branding identity. This individual will take a leadership role in developing and executing customized multi-channel communication strategies for internal business partners and will be responsible for providing strategy and support for associate and leadership communications. This includes events and programs that drive the associate experience. The ideal candidate is well-rounded in all communication methods and must show demonstrated success in developing multiple projects simultaneously from start to completion.

In addition, the Internal Communications Manager will be responsible for developing relationships with business leaders, providing counsel, and developing strategic communication plans to further business goals. This individual will support internal leaders, working in partnership to drive measurable results and create impact. Relationship management is key. This individual must have demonstrated experience in developing and executing communications strategies, excellent writing and editing skills, financial acumen, strong project management skills, and the ability to craft messages and write talking points for senior executives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Formulates and executes a comprehensive internal communications plan that aligns to business objectives and company culture; adjusts the strategy in response to or anticipation of changing business needs/conditions

Partners with business leaders to drive the associate experience through initiatives like fiscal year kick-off meetings, all associate meetings, Town Halls, etc

Builds trust and credibility as a communications partner, providing business leadership teams with sound advice and effective internal communications planning support

Drafts messages or scripts from senior executives for presentation to employees in written or spoken form

Creates content and is responsible for all internal news stories and announcements

Establishes and maintains tools and processes for two-way communication with all Paycor associates

Serves as the champion of Paycor’s intranet; manages the generation, sourcing, and display of text, image and video content

Provides consultation to business partners on communication method, appropriate media, and key messages to best reach target audience

Integrates a variety of communications tactics and disciplines for maximum impact (including internal announcements, presentations, newsletters, brochures, digital publications, Paycor’s intranet and other internal social media tools, videos, special events, etc.)

Assists and/or leads associate event planning and messaging

Tracks, monitors and evaluates communications activities and accomplishments to measure success; provides and implements recommendations as appropriate for continuous improvement

Drives effective utilization of multiple communication technologies, processes, and innovations; identifies and applies new, creative ways to reach and engage Paycor associates

Provides leadership, coaching and development to the Internal Communications Team


To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Technology, Business or another closely-related major

5 years of corporate communications or public relations/news experience desired

Excellent writing (editorial and technical writing), design, and presentation skills

Excellent organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple projects and work within a larger team

Ability to present concepts and communicate with clarity and impact to all levels of associates

Demonstrates technical acumen; experience working with content management systems

Experience utilizing social media and other digital channels (i.e. online marketing, mobile applications) to engage audiences with organization content

Results-oriented with proven track record in leading successful media (social and traditional) programs to advance the business through communications programs

Possesses networking and relationship-building skills and the ability to influence others outside direct line of control/ management
