As a Communications Manager at Vox Media, you will be an integral member of the Communications team, reporting to the Senior Director of Communications. You will work closely with executives and corporate stakeholders across Vox Media and develop thoughtful, creative, and timely strategies to secure press coverage of, and opportunities for, the company and key executives.
This is a high-energy job requiring persistent and persuasive interactions with members of the media, and Vox Media executives and leaders. We thrive in a face-paced, collaborative work environment: creativity, flexibility, professionalism, ambition, and positivity are key components of this role.
As Communications Manager, you will:
Build and maintain a strong knowledge of Vox Media, our executives, our portfolio of businesses, objectives and priorities, as well as the media industry and landscape
Work closely with company executives and key stakeholders to advance their public profiles within relevant industries including media, advertising, tech/product and more
Identify and proactively pitch stories, and provide support on larger initiatives/announcements to further both the immediate goals around specific projects, and broader company-wide initiatives
Identify, vet and proactively secure speaking opportunities for key executives across relevant topics
Maintain a calendar of company initiatives, industry events, opportunities, relevant editorial lists, awards and submission deadlines
Contribute to interview and speaking preparations for executives including the development of presentations, talking points, briefing documents, and other written and visual materials
Contribute to the overall communications strategies for all of Vox Media’s divisions and brands
5 years of recent experience working in communications and media relations, preferably at a high-profile, fast-growing company
Experience working with a diverse portfolio of stakeholders, including executives, clients, and partners, at varying stages of recognition
Proven record of pitching and securing business-focused stories, and a deep understanding of the media and advertising industries
Excellent written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and proactively, and collaborate well within a small enterprising team of communications professionals
