You enjoy managing and mentoring others, your commitment to diversity and inclusion is intentional, and you drive a healthy environment that promotes staff success.You welcome the chance to lead a dynamic communications and marketing team focused on planning, directing, and implementing a comprehensive strategy that elevates awareness of the National Council’s mission, policy work, and programs, both externally and internally.Responsibilities Include but are not limited to:§  Oversee crisp, culturally informed, and relevant messages, timely and thoughtful public relations, strategic and forward-thinking media relations, and creative and surprising marketing for all the National Council’s portfolios.§  Provide high level strategic guidance to strengthen the organization’s brand and monitor brand loyalty across all organizational communications editorial and design services, digital content, social media and branding.§  Oversee marketing and communication efforts across departments and provide strategic guidance to ensure consistent and clear messaging, while identifying opportunities for cross-promotion.§  Serve as a strategic counselor to the leadership team in identifying and managing communications on critical emerging policy, member, or patient issues, public speeches, talking points and other presentations.§  Establish communications policies, protocols and procedures that prioritize member engagement, and promote work with cross-functional department leaders to develop new communications programs and initiatives.§  Lead strategic planning and marketing to ensure the quality, value, and growth of educational offerings through the National Council’s internationally recognized annual conference attended by 6,000, the many face to face and virtual events held throughout the year, and the National Council’s significant portfolio of technical assistance and consulting contracts, grants and programs.§  Understand healthcare’s stakeholders and sectors, and create opportunities for alignment and collaboration.§  Serve as a strategic partner and internal consultant on Mental Health First Aid marketing and communications activities, which has to date trained more than 1 million and won the prestigious 2017 Power of A award from ASAE.§  Over-see marketing relationships with affiliate and corporate members, and contracts with strategic business partners to meet revenue targets.§  Establish departmental goals and metrics and monitor performance and resultsAttributes That Define Success in This Role:The successful candidate possesses the following attributes:•       Can inspire trust and confidence, including ability to sell ideas and influence directly and indirectly. Prefers high-energy environment characterized by high growth expectations. •       Top of field verbal and written communication and presentation skills, including ability to distill complex issues into compelling communications•       Approaches challenging circumstances and relationships with confidence and initiative•       Excellent listener balanced with ability to challenge colleagues constructively and stimulate the thinking of others•       Confident decision maker supported by disciplined, logical thinking, attention to detail and fact-based, documented conclusions and opinions•       Leader of the field communications/PR expertise and the ability to interpret emerging trends, transfer knowledge to peer executives and implement as   appropriate to enable continued achievement of the organization’s vision•       Demonstrated success securing high level cross functional collaboration; ability to establish leadership credibility and inspire teams to achieve common goals•       Strong business acumen/sensitivity; thinks holistically, incorporates overall company objectives in developing team strategy and decisions•       Leadership courage; ability to appropriately challenge status quo and influence others. Experiences That Should Reflect in Your Background:While the quality and accomplishments of a person’s career will be the determining factor, the finalist must have the following requisite qualifications:•       Minimum 15 years demonstrated experience and leadership in managing strategic communications, media relations, and marketing program to advance mission•       Significant experience developing and executing multi-channel strategic communications plans•       Well established media relationships and the ability to build additional media, social media, industry, and other relationships on the National Council’s behalf•       Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications or related discipline; advanced communications related degree or MBA preferred but not required
