Job Description Southside Virginia Community College, a comprehensive community college, is seeking a dual-credentialed instructor with masteru00e2??s level coursework in English and Communications. The successful candidate must be committed to our mission to provide quality education to a diverse constituency. Responsibilities: Duties include teaching and student advising, including maintaining 10 hours of scheduled office time per week. Classes taught may be a combination of day, night and/or weekends and a combination of seated, online, or hybrid. Classes may be located on or off campus, possibly in local high schools, or in a correctional center for a total of 15 credit hours per semester across locations served by the college. Other duties include serving on committees, participating in professional activities, mentoring adjunct instructors, and may include program development and assessment. Minimum Qualifications Masteru00e2??s degree in English, or Masteru00e2??s degree in communications with eighteen (18) graduate hours in English; ability to teach a combination of Freshman English and communications courses; willingness to teach in off-campus centers and/or correctional facilities; demonstrated teaching skills; excellent communication skills; an understanding of the community college environment and mission; ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population; understanding of current best practices in pedagogy; competency in and dedication to the use of instructional technologies. Preferred Qualifications Masteru00e2??s degree in English with eighteen (18) graduate credits in communications; graduate coursework in literature; community college/college teaching experience; online teaching experience.
