Director is responsible for establishing and administering a comprehensive
infrastructure in support of the Foundation’s mission to maximize philanthropic
support at Hospice House.  The incumbent
provides leadership in the areas of philanthropic gift production, business
strategy, financial planning and analysis, planning and policy, accounting and
administration, team management and special projects as assigned. This
position requires an effective leader with significant responsibilities to
train, coach and develop all staff assigned within the areas of responsibility;
and to be an effective communicator to operational personnel throughout the
system who are seeking or needing assistance. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Strategy
Assists
Vice President and Chief Development Officer in establishing yearly
development plans for the campuses, Foundation annual giving and other
fundraising to complement the strategic plans of the system to advance
philanthropic support.
Responsible
for managing fundraising goal attainment for Foundation staff.
Fundraising
Management
Assists
in developing tools and systems to provide critical fundraising, financial
and operational information as well as providing actionable
recommendations on both strategy and operations as well as carrying out
fundraising assignments.
Preparing
and submitting funding proposals for corporate and foundation funding for
clinical research, programs, equipment and capital needs as well as
supervising grant management activities.
Responsible
for annual fundraising development plans for the Foundation and
recommending overall fundraising goals for annual, special events,
capital, major gifts and planned giving activities.
Responsible
for the Foundation support functions of data management, prospect
research, and fund management.
Assists
in supporting the Foundation Board finance, audit, and investment
committees around issues, trends, and changes impacting the Foundation and
its operations as necessary.
Prepares
analysis of fundraising and financial results, and develops strategic and
tactical
recommendations.
Develops
and maintains prospective donor relationships for fundraising purposes.
 Responsible for nonprofit best practices
applying to fundraising activities including state and federal laws
regarding charitable giving and nonprofit operations.


 Accounting,
Administration and Analysis
Coordinates
all Foundation accounting functions in cooperation with accounting and
finance departments including audits and tax reporting as well as
regulatory compliance as necessary.
Interfaces
with financial partners, including financial institutions, investors,
internal and external auditors.
Coordinates
the development and monitoring of Foundation fundraising plans and budgets
Supervises
and monitors appropriate internal controls and financial procedures.
Ensures
timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting
for federal and state funders, foundations, Foundation board of directors;
coordinates with accounting department to prepare monthly and annual
financial statements.
Supervises
regular fundraising and financial planning reports as required.
Maintains
appropriate benchmarking standards.
Cash Management
Supervises
weekly cash management; approves payables
Coordinates
charitable gift distributions to Hospice House entities
Manages
pledges receivable and provides support to collection activities
Legal Affairs·        
Coordinates the Foundation’s
legal affairs in the areas of vendor contracts, policies and procedures,
planned gifts and other projects as assigned. Ethical and
Organizational
Maintains
and enforces confidentiality with all sensitive information including
personal information of staff members, information contained in minutes,
letters and documents, financial and personal information of donors and
donor prospects.
Maintains
and enforces ethical standards promulgated by national associations such
as the Independent Sector, Association for Healthcare Philanthropy, and
Catholic Health Initiatives.
Participates
in all safety, security and infection control programs that are mandatory
as well as those required and provided by the department.
Other
duties and responsibilities as assigned by the vice president and chief
development officer.

as well as those required and provided by the department.','!*!QUALIFICATIONS:Experience PreferredA minimum of  3 years not-for-profit management experience in fundraising activity preferably in a hospital or higher education environment with a support foundation activity   Experience in annual giving and major gifts with exposure to capital campaigns, special events and planned giving preferredBusiness financial management experienceExperience with Raiser’s Edge donor database or other donor database software preferredStrategic planning and project management experienceExperience in grant writing and grant management Education/LicensureA minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required, a Master’s Degree preferred.  An equivalent combination of education and / or experience will be considered.Knowledge/Skills/AbilitiesComputer skills required with knowledge using word processing, spreadsheet, and database softwareMust possess strong knowledge of all areas of charitable fundraising and the Alegent Health SystemMust have strong time management and organizational skillsMust have excellent listening skills, very good oral and written communication skills; good knowledge of grammar and sentence structureMust have excellent problem solving  and planning skillsMust have strong customer service skillsMust demonstrate personal traits of high level motivation; team orientation; professionalism; trust and place a high value on treating others with dignity and respectMust be able to build external relationships Must have strong attention to detailMust be proactiveMust have flexibility and resiliency','We’re an equal opportunity employer.
