Basic Function and Responsibility:
Under general supervision from the Director of Marketing, this position is responsible for conceptualizing and implementing a refreshing, innovative, and targeted integrated marketing and strategic communication efforts that connect and align the college's brand across all channels. The senior manager will provide forward-thinking, creative leadership in consultation with stakeholders; create content for and give feedback on marketing copy for print material, emails, landing pages, display ads and more; ensure brand voice and tone are infused into all written content; provide support for agencies and vendors; provide leadership and set the direction for organic social media and digital campaigns; coordinate and support a project management system; and, ensure a cohesive look, feel, voice and tone across all materials.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide leadership by translating strategic and operating plans into meaningful direction for projects, goals, priorities and activities; deliver on strategy through quality execution and best practice adaptation that support and align with the college's brand strategy and strategic goals.
Oversee the effective planning and execution of content development to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and timeliness in alignment with marketing targets and the needs of the stakeholders
Develop compelling angles, stories, and campaigns for marketing materials (including, but not limited to digital ads, social media, web, landing pages, email, TV commercials, newspaper ads, radio and video, and print materials) resulting in high engagement among desired audiences.
Establish and oversee the college's social media strategy, strategic use of the platforms, and support the ongoing need for content creation utilizing data analytics.
Serve as project manager to develop and implement marketing and communication plans for identified stakeholders and initiatives such as: institutional brand/image campaigns, annual report, key academic departments (STEM, Career and Technical Education), and new program launches.
Make thoughtful recommendations about content placement, providing direction for digital ads, landing pages, lead generation, and other digital channels that advance the institution's brand awareness and enrollment growth.
Lead editorial planning and create content for institutional publications to help tell the college's story.
Ensure consistent messaging that aligns with editorial and branding guidelines and is optimized for search and user experience.
Manage brand voice for all aspects of brand presence; copy edit and proofread materials incorporating appropriate brand-specific language across marketing pieces following AP style guidelines.
Drive test-and-learn optimization plan for email, landing page, videos and ad design. Utilize analytic tools to determine the effectiveness of campaigns and determine future direction.
In conjunction with the marketing team, oversee, create, implement, and guide workflow processes and project management tools to manage the department's capacity, track deliverables, and deliver marketing solutions that exceed goals, meet deadlines, and focus on the college's priorities.
Manage mailing list selection and strategy for various print publications and digital campaigns; works with internal staff and/or external vendors to define, select, and secure/purchase databases.
Research emerging trends in marketing and communications that will impact the college's brand position; inform and train team on new systems, media channels, and software.
Provide support with external vendors and agencies as needed.
Continually assess and provide discerning development, insightful coaching, and talent utilization/optimization for direct reports.
Help propagate messaging across the organization that fosters a broader knowledge of marketing, promotes collaboration and influences constructive and positive change.
Perform other job related duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Working Conditions:
Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired.
Five (5) years of marketing, content development, and/or communications experience.
Demonstrated experience creating compelling written and visual content for varying mediums including, but not limited to marketing materials, publications, websites, social media, scripts and videography, speeches, letters, and presentations.
Considerable knowledge of project management and production cycles.
Experience working with data analytics.
Experience with social media management.
Comfortable communicating with stakeholders at all levels of an organization.
Strong personal computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google suite.
Solid experience proofreading and editing and working knowledge of AP style.
Detail-orientated, creative, multi-tasking and flexible individual.
Ability to work with a diverse group of faculty, staff and students.
Proven track record of solving problems with a team.
Experience leading large scale initiatives and teams.
Prior supervisory experience, required.
Master's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, English or related field.
Six (6) plus years of marketing, content development, and/or communications experience.
Experience with email systems and email communication strategies (Constant Contact, My Emma, Mail Chimp, etc.)
Experience with vendor management.
Experience with digital assets management and/or project management systems.
Work is performed in a general office environment and is sedentary in nature. Little or no exposure to adverse working conditions. May be required to work flexible hours.
Administrative supervision is received from the Director of Marketing.
Functional supervision is exercised over the Public Relations Specialist, as well as contractors and student employees as needed.
Monday to Friday 8:15 am - 5:00 pm - May be required to work flexible hours
