The Part You Play:
As an integral player on the public relations program team, your communication and project management skills will be developed as you help plan and execute national, broad-reaching media programs – such as the Allstate America’s Best Drivers Report® – that elevate Allstate’s brand. With responsibilities ranging from strategic planning and execution to promotional media relations, writing to good old-fashioned pitching, we’re looking for someone who can move quickly and efficiently while maintaining a keen eye for detail. Your role integrates with areas across many parts of Allstate’s business and social innovation efforts to deliver cutting-edge campaigns that move Allstate’s reputation among customers and consumers as a caring, customer-centric and innovative company.
Media relations and strategic campaign execution.
Integrate closely with consumer marketing, social media, social innovation, business communications and enterprisewide communications teams to create compelling campaign content.
Create press materials, creative content and messaging for external and internal audiences.
Partner with other team members to effectively socialize and gain internal buy-in for campaigns.
Use creative problem solving to determine the most effective and efficient opportunities to make measurable impact on key stakeholders.
Develop work plans to organize project into tasks, sequence activities to achieve maximum efficiency and manage time required to complete tasks. Identify issues and act to adjust plans while remaining committed to project deadlines and timelines.
Three years of previous work experience, preferably in a public relations environment, that includes writing, research, media relations and decision-making skills.
Knowledge and application of the Associated Press Style Guide to prepare error-free communications for a variety of communication vehicles and stakeholders.
Generates innovative solutions to achieve business outcomes.
Thrives in a collaborative environment and puts work of the team ahead of individual issues; begins to exhibit and develop leadership skills; and maintains diplomacy in pressure or conflict situations.
Delivers presentations effectively and with confidence.
Internal Communication Skills:
Experience in developing and implementing internal communication strategies that create an understanding of enterprise priorities, provide context on issues and initiatives, build employee/agency engagement and help internal business partners understand their role in national public relations campaigns and how it contributes to the success of Allstate.
: Ability to work with news media outlets and social platforms to place stories that build and enhance Allstate’s reputation and support the enterprise brand. Understands when to involve others to mitigate issues that could negatively impact Allstate’s reputation.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism or related field preferred.
