TECHNICAL EDITOR - PRODUCT AND APPLICATION SECURITY
The Technical Editor is an experienced editor of security whitepapers, security policy, internal security awareness communication, and customer communication, who collaborates well and executes effectively to ensure the accuracy, completeness, high quality of technical documentation for software product security posture, security communication, and security policies.
The Technical Editor must exhibit a comprehensive grasp of the development, structure, and presentation of technical information, apply a sophisticated understanding of linguistic rules and style conventions, and maintain an up-to-date awareness of technical communication standards.
Work with cross-functional team members to define, set, and meet editing requirements for quality content.
Meet deadlines while paying attention to the level of edit and degree of thoroughness requested.
Content structure and usability
Assess documentation drafts for adherence to the content model and make recommendations to bring the content into alignment.
Perform developmental and substantive editing of online content, including but not limited to rewriting and reorganizing topics to help writers visualize and follow recommended restructuring, and suggesting alternative ways to present material.
Analyze content to ensure completeness of information while adhering to minimalism principles. Recommend where to expand conceptual information to provide the context and background needed to ensure user comprehension and success with tasks, and where to eliminate excessive and unnecessary information.
Review content experience plans to understand the audience and purpose of information needed for each release. Make recommendations for presenting information in optimal media based on content types and user goals.
Perform copy editing of technical, online content, including but not limited to a close and meticulous review for accuracy and consistency of grammar, syntax, spelling, punctuation, and terminology; clarity, flow, and readability of information; compliance with style guidelines, templates, boilerplates, trademarks, copyrights, and product names; Assure that edits clarify and do not corrupt technical information.
Initiate and recommend creative ways to develop and maintain technical documentation more effectively within departmental standards and guidelines.
Participate in investigating and recommending tools and methods for improving documentation quality.
Minimum 3 years of experience as a technical editor or information developer of online technical documentation.
Prefer 1-2 years of relevant work experience with application security and experience editing content written for industry-specific and internet-based technologies, web and application servers, or Client Server applications and technologies.
Experience with information security, application security, and related processes and policies is highly desired.
Prefer experience with API content.
Prefer strong understanding of information architecture principles and recent experience applying information architecture methodologies.
Prefer recent experience with wiki documentation and rich media such as videos and interactive graphics.
Experience with document and software development life cycles, as well as project management and software development methodologies.
Outstanding skills in leadership, collaboration, negotiation, and diplomacy.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with ability to work effectively and constructively with all personality types and with global and culturally diverse departments and groups.
Excellent writing, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
Excellent developmental, substantive, and copy editing skills.
Excellent skills in English and rigorous attention to the details of grammar, style, and usage.
Excellent organizational and project management skills with proven ability to manage competing priorities and remain productive in fast-paced environment.

Characteristics: Professional, independent, and highly productive, decisive, diplomatic, and detail oriented.
At minimum, a B.A. degree or equivalent experience in English, Journalism, Technical Communications, or a related field. Prefer an M.A. degree in Technical Communications, English, or Journalism with a background in Computer Science
