The Content Manager is responsible for managing the production of multiple branded projects, strategizing, collaborating cross-departmentally and enhancing existing workflows. The ideal candidate will be a proactive achiever with a strong ability to work intensely and efficiently with external clients and freelancers. This person must have a passion for the content marketing and editorial process while having a solid understanding of digital new media.
Responsibilities:
Work with a driven and highly motivated team to support content creation production and delivery of content to off-network partner sites.
Create guidelines, define editorial direction, source and manage qualified writers and editors, oversee content production and perform other duties to support successful creation of high-quality content for partners.
Meticulously track content production
Help establish quality of content through various initiatives in place
Research a broad range of subjects to create specialized content requirements in niche verticals.
Thoroughly review, assess and edit articles to identify editorial trends and ensure content meets quality standards and adheres to voice & style guides.
Conceive and develop strategies to cultivate new systems, tools and workflow processes to improve efficiency and quality.
Work closely with various internal departments, including but not limited to the editorial, product, sales and marketing teams, to develop, produce, package and deliver content.
Work directly with third-party partners and Content Solutions team to help establish voice, style and editorial guidelines to support creation of quality content in line with partner goals.
Help oversee title and content creation and writer and editor sourcing for multiple projects
Manage process and production schedules for content partnerships
Ensure overall content quality through regular quality audits.
Educate and manage a community of freelance writers, editors and filmmakers, including answering questions, providing feedback and conducting webinars as needed
Perform other editorial tasks and projects as necessary when required to support business objectives, including writing and editing content
Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, communications or related field preferred; minimum of 5 years journalism or content marketing experience (online, print or broadcast), with a strong writing and editing background; familiarity with the AP Style guide; at least two years experience with editorial calendars and online programming preferred
At least 2 years Brand or Agency project management experience preferred
Solid content marketing experience in the digital media sphere
Ability to think creatively and brainstorm out-of-the-box content solutions that support business objectives and address client’s needs
Solid Microsoft Office Skills, data management, PowerPoint and Excel experience needed
Experience working with freelancers, making assignments, tracking, providing feedback and managing invoices for payment
Ability to balance several projects at once while working in a deadline-driven environment
Efficiency, accuracy, organizational skills, dependability and attention to detail
Flexibility with rapidly changing priorities and customer needs
Experience with content management systems and online publishing tools
Understanding of social media, especially Facebook and Twitter
Strong familiarity with basic SEO concepts, including the role content creation plays in a sites' organic search traffic
Self–starter with strong interpersonal skills and experience collaborating in a team environment
