Build and maintain databases of contacts for outreach, including journalists, bloggers and government officials.
Write compelling pitches and secure media opportunities.
Coordinate and staff interviews with reporters, as well as prepare and brief spokesperson(s).
Work closely with SmartAsset’s editorial, data and design teams to strategize outreach surrounding our studies, data-driven content and new product launches.
Develop and leverage long-lasting relationships with press and key influencers.
Monitor, track and analyze SmartAsset’s online media coverage.
Research industry award and conferences.
Follow the news cycle and secure ongoing opportunities for spokespersons to comment on breaking news topics.
The ideal candidate has:
1-2 years of public relations experience, either at an agency or in-house.
Strong writing skills.
A well-developed sense of narrative and an eye for news hooks that appeal to key reporters.
The ability to manage multiple projects and initiatives with different and evolving deadlines.
Experience pitching business, tech and consumer media.
An interest in data, personal finance and technology.
A love for the news media.
A bachelor’s degree.
Proficient in Google Suite (GMail, Sheets) and Microsoft Office (i.e. Excel, Word).
Social media knowledge.
