The Manager of Communications and Public Relations will shape the organization’s brand identity, media visibility, reputation, advertising presence, and product coverage. A creative thought leader, this person will be charged with developing strategic plans to generate press coverage, attain brand and product visibility, and foster strong relations with media contacts in the industry.
The ideal candidate should have a proven track record of generating positive, quality press, managing media budgets and plans, and have a base of media contacts. Vision, flexibility, organization, and team collaboration are essential.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to regularly identify and prioritize newsworthy programs, invitatives, and events.
Develop public relations campaigns for initiatives, launches and events, overseeing the drafting of press releases, curating media contacts, customizing outreach, and following up.
Manage outsourced publicists, agencies and consultants, to ensure that all PR campaigns are executed in a manner consistent with the organization’s messaging and standards.
Oversee press events.
Develop and manage media plans.
Work with CMO and Brand Director to develop strategically sound media recommendations for print and digital.
Work closely with design team to ensure proper execution.
Steward buys, specs and relevant information with various teams.
Work closely with marketing staff to ensure that all content (print, email, website, social media) and promotions are consistent with the organization’s identity.
Maintain organization’s press tools, assets, and clippings.
Keep on top of shifting media trends and adapt strategies to maximize PR value.
Generate press reports with coverage and communicate highlights to staff.
Work on additional ad hoc communication programs as they arise.
Requirements:
BA/BS in English, Marketing or Communications required.
Minimum 5 years experience in corporate marketing communications.
Experience in PR, advertising, and partnership marketing.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
Strong proofreading and editing skills.
Work well under pressure and ability to use independent judgment.
Ability to set strategic priorities and objectives with minimal supervision.
Ability to manage multiple marketing initiatives from concept to delivery.
Excellent PowerPoint, Word and Excel skills.
Highly organized, detail oriented and ability to multi-task
Strong positive interpersonal skills.
