Reporting to the Managing Director of the Purdue Polytechnic Institute, the Director of Marketing and Communications is responsible for creating and executing an overarching immediate- and long-term marketing, brand management, and communications strategy for the entire college. Emphasis is placed on accuracy, uniformity, consistency, creativity, and functional cognition throughout the college, including the statewide locations. Leads the day-to-day operations of the Marketing and Communications team and functions, including web, social, and print media, video and other digital media, and graphic design, for a multitude of purposes. Performs budget planning and day-to-day management of the Marketing and Communications budget. This position exists in order to present the college in a professional, engaging, and highly attractive manner to all stakeholders and constituent groups related to the college, including current and potential future students, faculty, staff, alumni, parents, government and community leaders, citizens, and others. Charged with establishing standard communication practices and ensuring compliance throughout the college and maintaining compliance with university standards.
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or related.
Five years of experience creating a branding identity and strategic marketing plans.
Ability to lead and manage a team of professional staff members in a marketing and communications work center.
Ability to collaborate with and for a diverse constituency.
Experience and skills with publishing and design tools in the creation of electronic and print media.
Ability to work within a team and independently.
Ability to think using creativity and innovation, and to display strong leadership and exceptional communication skills.
Ability to work in a fast-paced team-oriented environment.
Must use own initiative to produce and effectively provide high-quality output.
Familiarity with modern trends and philosophies of messaging and social media; prior success in brand identity development including branding campaign strategy, effective product messaging, and ensuring compliance and adherence to brand identity guidelines.
Ability to foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders and collaborators to gain support from strategically identified constituents.
Understanding of CRM software targeted messaging, familiarity of current technologies and methodologies using search engine optimization, graphic design, web design, print media and production.
Appreciation for and experience with communicating to a diverse audience.
Ability to plan for and manage budget activities.
Valid US or Canadian driver's license.
Previous experience in higher education.
