POSITION SUMMARY:
The Dallas Fed is looking for a full-time Community Development Analyst I
to assist the function in executing quantitative and qualitative analysis that will help us better understand both economic mobility and resilience - key areas of focus. The community development function is a unit working in tandem within the Communications & Outreach Department to fulfill its vision to be the region's primary thought leader, data analysis center and convener on community development policies and practices.
The Community Development Analyst will have the opportunity to support senior professionals on the community development team in pursuit of our goals and tactics. We are seeking a candidate who can not only support our existing systems, but who can take initiative and drive innovation around new opportunities to fully exploit the potential of our data in pursuit of our mission to be a recognized leader in the communities of the Eleventh District, by advancing economic understanding.
This is a unique opportunity to help the central bank of the United States develop in its approach around data analysis and visualization techniques. We are looking for a candidate who is in the early stages of their career, is confident in their ability to convene and collaborate with groups, can work with software and perform quantitative data analysis, and is ready to creatively apply that skillset in the service of the organization. They will also help engage community members and partners in conversations and organize convenings that focus on furthering the bank's research and areas of priority for the community development function.
The candidate should have demonstrated experience with data analysis, research, event planning, and monitoring and evaluation; passion for turning data
Ideally the position would be located in Dallas, but if we find the right candidate that can work out of our branch offices in Houston, San Antonio or El Paso, we would consider.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Manage large repositories of both qualitative and quantitative data; enforce data integrity and security
Serve as a key user of our data management software(s), and collaborate with staff members to extract insights
Partners and collaborates with senior members of the team to identify trends and insights; synthesizes and works with teams to share findings
Actively maintain and pursue the organization's suite of knowledge resources, including databases and qualitative stories
Assist us in revising our approach for optimizing data, in expanding our vision for our datasets, and in scoping potential software tools for new analyses.
Conduct data analysis, including preparing memos, tables, graphs, maps, or other visualizations of our data
Assist in our ability to monitor our progress and measure the impact/outcomes of our work, and the work of our partners

REQUIREMENTS:
At least 1 year experience in community development, outreach and/or communication is required.
At least one year experience analyzing datasets and working towards producing reports or findings.
Working knowledge of SAS, R, STATA, or other programming language preferred. Knowledge of Tableau, GIS tools and a familiarity with US Census and American Communities Survey data also preferred. Must have the functional and technical knowledge and skills to do the job at a high level of accomplishment; problem solver that applies initiative/perseverance; influencer.
Knowledge of community development issues, resources and stakeholders.
Ability to conduct research and analyze data on current and emerging community development topics.
Versatile writing and editing skills for readers of both printed and online publications.
Effective oral and written communication for a wide diversity of audiences.
Ability to articulate, tell a story and create applied research on community development topics.
Ability to organize a large event utilizing event management tools.
Ability to conduct outreach to and maintain strong relationships with community development stakeholders.
Ability to identify information needs of organizations that serve low- and moderate-income individuals or communities.
Basic understanding of the Community Reinvestment Act.
Experience with social media outlets such as Twitter, Linked-In.
Must be a self-starter.
EDUCATION:
Bachelor`s degree in communications, statistics, community development, public policy, business or related field of study preferred.
Equivalent education and/or experience may be substituted.
WORK HOURS AND CONDITIONS:
Working Conditions: Typically, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday - Friday. Occasional work during evening hours and on weekends may be necessary depending on workload and project schedules.
Notes:
By federal law, this position requires that candidates fall within one of the following citizenship categories: (1) U.S. Citizen, (2) U.S. National, or (3) U.S. lawful permanent resident alien (green card holder) who is eligible for and seeking U.S. citizenship within the requisite time frames .
This position may be filled at various levels based on candidate's experience and departmental needs.
Employment is contingent upon the selected candidate passing a background check and financial credit check.
