The Deloitte Center for Technology, Media, and Telecommunications (TMT Center) is the Research & Insights team that's part of the Deloitte TMT practice. The TMT Center is a premier source for insights on the most important issues facing TMT executives in the US and globally. The TMT Center develops and publishes 35 pieces of thought leadership per year, based on primary and secondary research, including surveys and executive interviews. It also develops supporting slide decks, podcasts, videos, and webinars for its key research projects. Our insights are featured in top-tier news, business, and industry press.
The TMT Center is seeking a full-time Chief of Staff to partner with the TMT Center's Executive Director to manage the planning, execution, and delivery of thought leadership projects and initiatives that support the TMT Center's goals and strategy. This role offers a unique opportunity to interface directly with senior leaders throughout the TMT industry and the wider firm, enhance operations management, and plan and execute strategic projects. It's a role with high strategic importance to TMT, and high visibility with senior TMT leadership.
Co-develop and execute TMT Center strategy:
Work with Executive Director as a member of the Research & Insights leadership team to set strategic vision and goals.
Support the Executive Director in strategy discussions with senior industry, sector, and client leaders by framing key questions and achieving buy-in for recommendations.
Ensure the programs, activities and budget of the TMT Center support the priorities of the firm, the strategic goals of the industry practice.
Shape and execute analyses, and prepare clear, concise, and compelling presentations for senior leadership related to strategy, initiatives, and performance.
Manage the TMT Center's research projects and operations:
Manage the tactical plans for research projects from concept to post-delivery assessment.
Develop and improve project management processes to ensure effective, efficient, on-time delivery of thought leadership projects.
Direct and coordinate the critical path to ensure project milestones are met.
Help solve operational issues to improve consistent delivery of thought leadership and insights.
Use project management tools to develop project management visualizations (GANTT charts, calendar views, etc.) for TMT Center internal meetings and stakeholder briefings.
Comply with risk processes, external communication polices and branding guidelines.
Manage the vetting and procurement of service suppliers (survey vendors, data providers) by facilitating supplier negotiations and developing supplier contracts.
Improve and measure the TMT Center's Impact
Lead commercialization activities to support the last mile of deployment of thought leadership. This includes increasing the client impact of thought leadership and extending its shelf life.
Design and manage metrics dashboards and communicate a clear, up-to-date picture of the performance of thought leadership pieces and projects.
Support the Executive Director's and National Industry Leader's communication of the TMT Center's impact.
Drive team collaboration and development
Partner with and support the Executive Director on team management initiatives, including hiring, performance assessment, and counseling underperformers.
Research and recommend training programs for TMT Center researchers, including those provided by Deloitte and external vendors.
Manage and coordinate internal team calls, meetings, and events.
Lead coordination efforts internally and externally
Partner with TMT Sector Specialists and Marketing to determine project goals and timelines.
Closely coordinate with Green Dot team, including sector specialists, Marketing, Public Relations, Learning & Development, and Knowledge Services.
Coordinate with Research, Learning and Development, Marketing, and Public Relations on all related activities to disseminate and publicize thought leadership, including working with marketing on developing and executing events.
Manage alliances and collaboration with universities and external research resources.
Represent the TMT Center in working groups and other internal opportunities by participating on committees and delivering presentations.
Monitor services and strategic initiatives for cross-collaboration; engage with TMT industry and sector practice contacts through participation on industry programs, committees, and board.
Support One Firm behavior
Partner with the Executive Director, national industry leader, national sector leaders, industry chief of staff, sector specialists, client leaders, and business leaders to identify and leverage opportunities arising from eminence activities.
Serve as the liaison for Office of the General Counsel, quality risk manager, and suppliers to ensure alignment with firm policies and project objectives.
Build internal networks to increase communication and knowledge sharing and to engage in collaboration between the R&I Industry Centers, and with other eminence-producing teams across the firm.
Bachelor's degree. Master's degree/MBA preferred.
Minimum 6-8 years professional experience. Client service experience and/or industry experience required.
Deep understanding of Deloitte, its operations, and culture. Experience and relationships within TMT preferred.
Outstanding track record managing complex projects.
Demonstrated, advanced capability with project management tools and methods.
Experience managing a team.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate quantitative and qualitative analyses into clear messages and informed responses to leadership.
Advanced capability with Microsoft Office suite (PPT and Excel).
Demonstrated ability to work with a virtual team, including US and USI.
