We’re a rapidly growing company serving more than 2,000 amazing seniors in WA, CA and Nevada. We’re looking for a high performing brand journalist and in-house public relations expert with a passion for people and an insatiable appetite to tell great stories. The ideal candidate will be a hunter/gatherer, a great writer and someone who shapes our narratives with the appropriate voice on any platform to highlight the excellence of Aegis Living.
You’ll be responsible for co-creating the strategy, initiatives, planning, synchronization, and daily reputation management to raise the visibility of Aegis Living and its thought leadership locally and nationally.
The role requires a broad range of skills and experience, including a customer obsession, impeccable critical thinking and team player attitude. Demonstrate exceptional creative writing and editing in press releases, award entries, newsletters, blogs and videos.
Develop and maintain local/regional media, national and trade media lists and stay informed of industry trends.
Be graceful while working with senior executives and have unshakable nerves under pressure.
Determine appropriate internal executive spokesperson, prep spokesperson for media interview with talking points, media training and context around the opportunity.
Align messaging and company activities with current events, showcasing the brand.
Write promotional ads for speaker events and special community events.
Maximize usefulness of PR support tools such as media monitoring/clip services/press release wire services and analyze and present the results.
Create an editorial calendar, strategize story placement with influencers, and work with our social media team to accelerate distribution.
Exercise sound judgment in all external communications, whether it is supporting crisis management or managing confidential information.
Multi-task, analyze, and consider all stakeholder viewpoints.
Collaborate with a team and fit into a culture of compassion, honesty, understanding and trust.
Required skills and qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, or other related field required.
Minimum of five years’ experience in journalism, communications, PR, or a related field.
Experience engaging with C-level is a must.
Journalism experience in WA or CA a plus.
Expert writing skills.
Social media competence and creativity.
Analytical and big picture thinking-a must.
Competency in Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
Ability to work in our Corporate Office and contribute to a lean, creative and upbeat team.
