Reporting jointly to the Director of the Health Sciences Library and the Associate Director of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine, MidContinental Region at the University of Utah, the Missouri Coordinator will plan and implement the programs of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine - MidContinental Region (NNLM-MCR) in the State of Missouri. , the University of Missouri Health Sciences Library participates in working towards the mutual goals of the NLM and the NNLM related to meeting health information needs of health professionals and their patients

Responsibilities include:

Plan and implement the programs of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine - Midcontinental Region (NNLM-MCR) in the state of Missouri. Promote health information resources to prospective users throughout the state of Missouri. Work with state and local health services agencies and with health librarians throughout the state of Missouri.

Work closely with the NNLM-MCR to implement regional services in cooperation with the Associate Director and other state coordinators in the states of Colorado, Kansas, Nebraska, Utah, and Wyoming.

Provide programs on health information services to health care providers; and programs on health information topics, with emphasis on library engagement, library research, and financial impact of libraries, to health sciences librarians.

Work with the Director of the Health Sciences Library, University of Missouri, to plan and implement demonstration projects that highlight library engagement activities in an academic health center library. Conduct library and information-related research studies. Analyze and distribute results through local outlets as well as the NNLM-MCR web site and through state, regional and national publications.

Provide examples of effective library promotion for regional health librarians through communications about library services to health professionals at the University of Missouri.

Work in cooperation with University of Missouri Libraries goals and objectives. Participate in activities of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine and the National Library of Medicine in cooperation with the University of Utah leadership.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education

 : MLS from ALA accredited institution.

Experience:

 Six years of professional library experience.

Skills and Abilities

 : Strong leadership skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong service orientation; familiarity with library technology; familiarity with current library trends and issues; creativity and initiative. Demonstrated experience in making formal presentations before diverse groups of people. Ability to work as part of a distributed team. Tolerance for periods of frequent travel.

Preferred Qualifications:

Education

 : Additional advanced subject degree in communications, public health, health informatics, or other health-related discipline.

Experience

 : Five years of professional experience in a health-related library or public health environment with responsibilities encompassing information delivery, instruction, public service, or research is preferred.  Professional experience in communications or library research. Web site design and management expertise. Library outreach experience. Experience in integrating library services into institutional infrastructure. Experience in successful marketing of library services and resources.

Skills and Abilities

 : Interest in writing for publication. Evidence of ability to write for publication in professional literature.

Compensation:

Salary will be commensurate with education and experience.
