Title: Manager – Public Relations
Reports to: Sr. Director– Madewell Marketing
Location: Long Island City Office
Overview: The first Madewell store opened in 2006, fast forward to today and the brand has over 120 locations and a thriving online business. Now offering both women’s and men’s, denim is still at the core of everything we do. The Marketing team is comprised of driven big thinkers that are dedicated to finding the most effective and creative ways to achieve brand love and awareness.
Madewell is looking for a passionate, highly motivated public relations professional to develop and execute an effective communication strategy. This individual will be tasked with growing brand awareness through a multi-faceted approach including editorial placement, influencer relations and thought leadership. They must excel in thoughtful storytelling and creative problem solving. The ideal candidate is curious about where the industry is heading and dedicated to finding new ways to achieve brand awareness.
They will work with cross functional business partners and two agencies to identify press opportunities and develop a cohesive strategy based on brand priorities. The right candidate is comfortable in a fast paced environment and with multi-tasking. They are collaborative and capable of bringing together key stakeholder to drive a strategy that aligns Madewell’s strategic goals.
*Ensure a consistent brand message across all brand communications. *Track the retail landscape, competitive environment, and consumer trends to ensure that Madewell is positioned as an industry leader. *Identify and pursue opportunities that solidify Madewell as a thought leader in the retail and denim industry. *Develop and deliver an effective communication strategy around initiatives that increase brand awareness, reinforce the brand ethos and drive the business. Collaborate with internal stakeholders across design, merchandising and marketing to create compelling moments for the launch of product and services. *Work with agency partners to execute a PR strategy that includes traditional and non-traditional pr tactics, influencer marketing and meaningful experiences for media and customers. *Concept and execute celebrity, influencer and media events. *Create and package communication tools to educate agency partners, associates and customers about core brand messages and key brand initiatives. *Oversee tracking and communication of press coverage to internal team. *Oversee internal communications of key initiatives. *Oversee PR budget and expenses.
*Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree *6-8 years of work experience *Budget/revenue management experience preferred *Excellent verbal and written communication skills, creative and out of the box thinker *Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills required *Adaptability and multi-tasking capability, with solid time management *Thrive in an environment of changing situations and priorities *Demonstrate ability to work in a collaborative environment and dynamically align to changing business conditions
