About the Position:

Fort Bragg is known as the Home of the Airborne and Special Operations Forces. It is a culturally diverse area with both rural and city populations and is co-located at Fayetteville, NC. It is centrally located just hours away from the beautiful beaches of North Carolina and the scenic Blue Ridge and Smoky Mountains. Fayetteville Regional Airport is located 12 miles outside of Fort Bragg's gates and Raleigh-Durham International Airport is 70 miles away. There are numerous universities in close proximity to Fort Bragg, to include: Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville Technical Community College, Methodist University, and Troy State University.

Serves as a Public Affairs Specialist on the FORSCOM, Public Affairs, Plans and Operation Team.

Responsibilities

The incumbent is responsible for providing a full range of Public Affairs support and for providing Public Affairs subject-matter expertise in Army community relations, media relations, command information, social-media outreach to include television production, photography and videography, plans, issues and programs impacting on the Department of Defense, Department of the Army and U.S. Army Forces Command. Tailors a wide-range of command information products for distribution via FORSCOM (HQ and subordinates) official websites, social media outlets, radio and television stations, and others. Provides daily updates to FORSCOM websites and social media platforms. Coordinates with Army Public Affairs, other Army and DoD organizations to synchronize and complement social media efforts, especially with regard to the use of digital media products.

Incumbent provides the Headquarters, U.S. Army Forces Command at Fort Bragg, N.C., and its units nationwide with assistance, advice and guidance in contingency operations, daily operations, communication and mission planning; as well as in the development and coordination of Public Affairs guidance; online videos and television production and video production for social media posts, news stories and media releases, in the clearance of speeches, manuscripts and articles; in responding to public requests and news media inquiries; in obtaining and/or interpreting policy guidance, in obtaining exceptions to policy, and in assisting with various new missions.

Incumbent researches and develops an appropriate draft response in coordination with higher, lateral or subordinate commands and with FORSCOM staff agencies. Prepares input for Public Affairs annexes to externally developed exercise, contingency and operations plans and orders; prepare Public Affairs plans to support significant FORSCOM activities and special events and perform a variety of staff officer actions - to include video editing, television video news releases and social media communication plans. Able to write scripts for short (1 to 5-minute) video productions and longer (10 to 12 minutes videos)

Provides appropriate planning, policy and Public Affairs guidance FORSCOM units to enable them to conduct effective and efficient Public Affairs programs. Researches new and innovative tools, programs, systems, software or services to improve command information program. Manages, analyzes and reports on the communication metrics used in Public Affairs Programs, this information is used to determine the effectiveness the command information initiatives, programs, campaigns and activities. Experienced with video editing and TV production.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience in 1) Writing a variety of articles, news releases, speeches, social media posts and social-media communication plans; information papers/fact sheets to convey information and to clarify the organization's missions and operations; slide presentations; photography and videography skills; 2) Writing plans and guidance to establish guidelines and policies for use within the organization or by subordinate public affairs offices; 3) Presenting oral and or written information to internal and external audiences to gain support from those audiences for existing or proposed programs; 4) Responding to requests for guidance in public affairs matters from members of the command and from the field, as well as respond to requests for information from members of Congress, news media representatives, and the public; and 5) Applying principles, methods, and techniques of all forms of mass and interpersonal communications media when developing, executing, and evaluating public affairs plans, policies, and practices.
