• Minimum of 10 years relevant experience with a proven track record in communications and top-notch organizational skills is a must.

Duties / Expectations:
The Director, Advancement Communications is responsible for ensuring that the work of the Advancement Communications team is strategically aligned with the work of the College's Office of Marketing, including core messaging, design and copywriting quality, and print production standards. He/she will directly manage the Advancement Communications and stewardship teams, and the overall strategy of the constituency communications and donor stewardship functions. The Director will create, maintain, and share an annual marketing communications plan, in collaboration with members of Advancement and Marketing, and oversee campaign communications, proposal writing, and alumni and annual fund communications, as well as initiate and support communication strategies that include social media outreach, e-marketing, solicitations, and other forms of electronic and print marketing. Responsible for designing, implementing, and directing an integrated and comprehensive donor relations and stewardship program that appropriately and consistently promotes interaction and connection with, and recognition of, donors at all levels. The Director is forward-thinking, innovative and energetic professional with proven success in campaign communications, capable of developing and orchestrating the implementation of a multi-year plan to advance institutional efforts.
The Office of Marketing is responsible for the oversight and final approval of Babson's digital content (website content, social media, and video); Babson Magazine content; and news and media relations outreach. The Director of Advancement Communications will collaborate with the managers of these areas within the Office of Marketing when advancement initiatives or projects would engage with these institutional channels.
• Manage the Advancement Communications team to deliver effective messaging that supports constituent engagement and provide strategic communications and marketing support to all functions within the Advancement division.
• Oversee a comprehensive communications strategy for alumni engagement, annual fund, and stewardship.
• Create, update, and implement an annual integrated marketing plan, in coordination with the Office of Marketing that advances the goals set forth for the College's giving campaign, 2019: A Campaign for Babson's Second Century. Under his/her leadership, the marketing plan and its associated communications will be designed and disseminated to further engage the Babson community (i.e., alumni, parents, faculty, staff, and students) and its friends, to create a culture of philanthropy, and to increase volunteerism, advocacy, and giving leading into and beyond the College's centennials in 2019.
• Ensure that the work of the Advancement Communications team is strategically aligned with the work of the College's Office of Marketing This alignment will include core messaging, design and copywriting quality, and print production standards.
• Serve as the primary liaison and collaborator with the Office of Marketing's management team.
• Direct the creation of proposals for individuals and corporations and foundations. Oversees and writes, edits, and proofreads proposals, gift opportunities descriptions, concepts papers, and other material for significant gift support at the College.
• Provide practical communications support as a writer and editor, including the drafting of campaign collateral, reports, and letters.
• Evaluate the quality and impact of the donor relations/stewardship program whose components include use of gifts, recognition, events, gift agreements, management of information, and privacy compliance.
• Collaborate with leadership within Advancement to create strategies for developing compelling communications for the purpose of creating an energetic and enthusiastic culture of philanthropy.
• Oversee a comprehensive social media outreach and interaction strategy including the use of multiple platforms in collaboration with the Office of Marketing's Associate Director of Integrated Content Strategy.
• Provide ongoing leadership, support and guidance to direct reports, including participating in regular face-to-face meetings, helping set and reviewing annual goals and objectives, identifying areas of opportunity for growth, including but not limited to formal professional development activities.
• Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Vice President of Administration.
