Founded in 1912, the non-profit Los Angeles Jewish Home is among the largest providers of senior healthcare services in Los Angeles. Through its innovative Connections to Care ® program, each year thousands of seniors benefit from the Home’s community-based and in-residence programs.
Reporting to the Director of Communications (DOC), the Senior Communications Associate contributes to building the Los Angeles Jewish Home brand, internally and externally. This is a key role in promoting the organization by developing and managing the Home’s strategic communications plan, creating and managing messaging and materials for external audiences and internal use, as well as managing communications projects and supervising consultants.
With the DOC’s guidance, develop and then independently implement messaging for key external and internal audiences
Act as an internal journalist. Find, develop, and write stories about the Home’s initiatives, seniors, programs, staff, events and accomplishments, as well as senior healthcare issues.
Review materials produced by the Home’s staff for messaging and graphic consistency and currency.
Engage and collaborate with other Home departments, Fund Development staff and outside consultants as needed.
Provide guidance on the messaging tone and direction of the Home’s digital communications, including online communications, social media, and websites.
Recommend, implement, maintain and update websites to ensure content, design and functionality are current, accurate and aligned with branding.
Provide guidance on the messaging, tone and direction of the Home’s digital communications channels, including online and social media properties.
Organize and manage communications projects, such as photoshoots, video production, and visual asset library.
Manage ongoing activities of outside vendors on production and distribution of materials to ensure projects are on-time and on-budget.
Ensure invoices are processed for timely payment. Manage and track expenses against budget.
Coordinate budgets, deadlines and schedules with the DOC for the Communications Department
Plan and produce a full-day senior care symposium
Support other departments with event planning and logistics pertaining to resources and materials
Provide administrative support for the Communications Department as needed.
Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, journalism or related field
Seven years or more of hands-on project management and professional experience in the field of communications, marketing, public relations or related field. Nonprofit or healthcare experience a plus.
Highly skilled in creating high quality, professional presentations, developing and implementing communications plans, writing and producing print and digital publications and collateral materials.
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to write, edit and accurately proofread written materials.
Excellent organizational skills, strong attention to detail and ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks in a dynamic environment while meeting deadlines.
Outstanding interpersonal skills, professional demeanor, ability to work independently or with a team.
Experience with technologies and best practices for campaigns across multiple platforms
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint is required, with proficiency in Outlook and Excel.
