Under the direction of the Director of Marketing and Participation, provide administrative, organizational, and operational support to the Annual Giving Programs Marketing and Participation team. A collaborative contributor, the person in this role must have a high degree of organization and attention to detail. Excellent customer service skills are required for dealing with internal and external customers. Superior interpersonal and written communication skills are required, as this position will also have a great deal of interaction with students, alumni, other Cornell departments, units, and outside vendors.
Formal training beyond a High School diploma of six months to one year, with two to four years of experience, or equivalent is required. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Ability to understand and anticipate needs from a big-picture perspective. Excellent organizational skills, the ability to multi-task, take initiative, and pay close attention to detail. Must be able to analyze data. Ability to set clear priorities when faced with competing demands. Strong interpersonal skills; excellent relationship building skills; and the ability to exercise diplomacy. Able to work effectively in a fast-paced, high volume office. Able to work, at an advanced level, with desktop applications, databases, networked informational systems and the Internet.
The ability to write correspondence and work with data systems is strongly preferred. The ability to work, at an advanced level with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint), databases (Filemaker), and networked informational systems (Peoplesoft) is strongly preferred. Experience in marketing, public relations, fundraising or journalism preferred.
