SENIOR MANAGER internal communications

General Summary

Leads the creation and execution of integrated internal strategic communications plans for assigned business units / individual hospitals/ or a significant project or program (i.e., performance improvement; service line; system HR; IT; Epic/Portfolio; merger/acquisition, etc.). Serve as the primary liaison between executive leader/project managers of assigned area of responsibility and the Marketing, Communications & Community Health Department. Responsible for developing comprehensive strategic communications plans, manages execution and measures results. While reporting to Sr. Director, System Internal Communications, position also has accountability to business unit and hospital leadership/VP as embedded team member and day-to-day communications lead.

Principal Responsibilities and Tasks

The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this job description. These are not to be construed as an exhaustive list of all job duties.

Leads ongoing development of strategic communications plans to meet business objectives; strategy plans to include timing, messaging, tactics/channels and approvals. Executes communications plans using internal resources, and manages the creation of original content for internal communication channels.

Directs communications initiatives including but not limited to intranet, employee meetings, video, and print production for internal audiences. Maintains communications project inventory, assets and content calendar.

Create, edit and distribute materials such as newsletters, talking points, toolkits, intranet content and other related materials to target audiences.

Distill complex business or medical/scientific information or concepts into easy-to-understand key messages to be utilized in communication plans across multiple levels of internal audiences.

Serves as key liaison and advisor between the Marketing and Communications Department and the business area team(s) assigned (project team, and VP lead) to develop, evaluate, implement and monitor comprehensive strategic communications plans.

Develops and fosters key relationships with key stakeholders/related partners in business area and across system to assure coordination of messaging, tactics and distribution across various audiences and entities.

Attends assigned business area meetings and committees to coordinate and prioritize multiple communication needs of business area and system priorities.

Maintain in-depth knowledge of business area assigned to ensure optimal, integrated messaging.

What You Need to Be Successful:

Education and Experience

Bachelor's degree with a concentration in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Business, English, Marketing, or related field, is required.

Eight (8) to twelve (12) years of hospital, corporate and/or agency communications experience is required. At least six (6) years internal or external client management or project management experience is required.

Demonstrated experience developing communication programs and managing related projects for complex, matrixed organizational initiatives, is also required.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment and take accountability for deliverables and results.

Ability to manage multiple complex tasks and projects concurrently; exceptional project management and organizational skills.

PC skill in all Microsoft Office programs required.

Highly effective verbal and written communication skills expected.

Demonstrates proven ability to work alongside senior leaders regarding communications strategy and execution, and providing appropriate guidance.
