Coordinate Community Affairs activities including, but not limited to: information distribution, social media coordination, media relations, publication writing and design, webpage, and cable TV content.
Examples of Duties
1.Coordinates communications program including writing and disseminating press releases and information, conduct media briefings, personal interaction, and media management at Town Council Meetings.
2.Coordinates content and fosters growth for Town social media outlets, trains departmental staff as it relates to social media usage.
3.Acts as Flower Mound TV host for regular monthly programming in addition to various one-time video projects. Works with interview subjects in preparation for FMTV interviews and script-writing.
4.Serves as on-call public information officer in responding to after-hours emergencies and media inquiries.
5.Assists with writing, photography, design, editing, and dissemination of informational marketing plans, printed publications, FMTV programming, and digital and/or social media.
6.Assists with website maintenance through Town's content management system and provide staff training when needed.
7.Conducts special-event promotion including pre-event and post-event marketing; attend events to photograph, video, and archive.
8.Assists with public information requests through tasks such as conducting research, compiling data, and responding.
9.Project-manages and conducts public programs and community meetings as needed.
10.Attends external community meetings and represent the Town in relation to community projects.
11.Establishes and maintains good rapport with external agencies and Town Partners.
12.Coordinates and exchanges information among Town officials and the Flower Mound business community.
13.Assists with the continued development and evolution of the Town's overall communication program.
14.Performs general office administrative tasks to include filing, sorting, word processing, and data entry.
15.Adheres to Personnel and Administrative Regulations.
16.Performs other duties as assigned.
Must have a Bachelor's Degree in Communications, Journalism, Marketing, English or a related field plus one or more years of experience in a related field. In lieu of degree, must have five years of progressively responsible experience in a related field. Social media experience is preferred. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License and driving record must be in compliance with Town policy.
Must have excellent oral and written English communication skills including spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Must be computer proficient in word processing and graphic layout and design. Must have excellent leadership, organizational, problem solving and customer service skills. Strong focus on presenting information to the public via writing correspondence, informational articles, and program documents. Skills in preparing, coordinating, and finalizing informational publications and reports are crucial. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job, including: able to see, read, speak clearly and concisely, talk, hear, and write. Strong emphasis on the ability to exercise good judgment, make competent decisions, handle multiple projects, prioritize and organize work assignments, meet deadlines, work well under pressure and stress, communicate courteously and effectively with other people and maintain a pleasant and friendly demeanor at all times. Must work after-hours, evenings, and weekends as necessary.
