POSITION SUMMARYPlanning, administering and managing media relations programs, with specific focus on trade and industry-focused media, consistent with corporate goals and strategies, leveraging various social and traditional media channels. Proactively plan strategy and tactics aimed at generating media coverage in key, targeted outlets. Provide content and collaborative contribution to the company’s social media program. Support the Sr. Director, corporate communications on corporate-focused media opportunities. Provide communications counsel to senior and mid-level business leaders, and write and edit external communications targeted to trade/industry, major financial, business, international, national and local media. Operate as a member of the corporate communications team, supporting specific lines of business and corporate groups. ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPSThis position is part of the corporate communications team, reporting to the senior director of corporate communications. Participates as a team member with global product marketing, global sales channel management and trade show planning teams. Also interfaces internally with sales and service management organizations in the corporate office and field as well as legal and members of the executive team. External interface with business, local, national, international and trade media; customers; national and international public relations agencies, freelance writers, photographers, printers, audio/visual suppliers and other suppliers. SCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITYHas responsibility for planning and producing global trade public relations programs for all assigned business units, assisted by the corporate communications coordinator. Manage the budgeting process for corporate, trade and international media relations. Support the senior director of corporate communications in leading the media relations team. Requires moderate travel. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Create, drive and issue consistent strategic messages to key print, electronic and broadcast external audiences, including trade, social, national and international media, through appropriate processes or vehicles.- Contact editors to discuss editorial opportunities; arrange interviews with company executives, provide information and photos; write magazine features and case studies. Coordinate media relations efforts with product and service marketing. Regularly review and evaluate media to ensure targeted efforts.- Produce news releases on products and contracts, articles, and case studies; include press photos and videos where appropriate.- Prepare public relations plans for the major trade shows where Diebold exhibits, including news releases, media relations, executive interviews, press conferences and press kits.- Contribute relevant earned media content company’s social media program and support certain tactical elements of the social media plan. Monitor the company’s social media activity to help ensure compliance and brand consistency.- Create and/or facilitate executive presentations for industry media events.- Establish budget and monthly forecasting for corporate, industry and international media relations programs. Measure and evaluate results.- Maintain proactive media contact with key editors/reporters to determine feature story, interview and product release opportunities. This includes travel with executives and key subject matter experts to meet with editors. Regularly review and evaluate media to ensure targeted efforts.- Assist with the naming process for new products/brands working closely with marketing communications, product management and legal.- Maintain appropriate suppliers and freelance writers to ensure quality and timely completion of media relations assignments.- Initiate and develop press releases, including research, field employee and customer contact, writing, editing, and obtaining approvals, distribution and follow-up.- Maintain editorial calendars and prepare summary that identifies editorial opportunities. Coordinate with advertising and trade show/convention schedules.- Manage a regular program of contact with specific trade conference, network meeting and banking convention management to obtain speaking engagements for business unit executives.- Support the vice president, chief communications officer and senior director, corporate communications on special projects as assigned.Manage the following tasks:- Coordinate media coaching sessions for Diebold Nixdorf spokespeople- Evaluate and route appropriate press clippings- Maintain News Room portion of www.dieboldnixdorf.com
- Position requires a Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in English, journalism, creative writing, communications, public relations or marketing. - 5-7 years of related field experience, and supervisory experience. - Person must possess excellent writing, organizational, interpersonal, communications, budgeting and presentation skills. - Experience with event planning, media relations, developing content for press releases is required. - Working with 3rd party agencies is highly preferred.
