Job Description Summary The Strategist provides service-oriented strategic planning and implementation perspective for marketing and communication activities at the University and college level in collaboration with a Project Manager. Responsible for crafting and communicating appropriate marketing plans as needed to colleges and programs. Translate university objectives and strategic initiatives into communication opportunities for colleges and programs. Coordinate marketing and communication activities assigned. Other duties as assigned. Responsibilities Marketing Development \u2022Steward of the Chapman University brand and be the liaison between SMC Project Managers, Project Team Leaders and campus partners. \u2022Assist VP and Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Partner Services in supporting marketing and communications functions across campus. \u2022In collaboration with VP, AVP, Project Manager and Project Team Leaders develop comprehensive annual strategic marketing plans for partners including some or all of the following: oSecondary (online) research oData analysis oObjective planning oMedia planning oBudgeting oReport writing oFormal presentations \u2022Ensure coordinated communication and implementation plans among SMC team and partners. \u2022Plan, create and promote marketing services, tools and products in collaboration with Project Manager and Project Team Leaders. \u2022Collaborate with assigned SMC Project Manager in providing strategic marketing and communications services. \u2022Monitor, review and report on pertinent marketing activities. \u2022Work with outside vendors to gather and analyze analytics to present to university partners (academic and service departments). \u2022Troubleshoot problems that arise in the marketing process to ensure compliance and project professionalism. \u2022Maintain files and information on contacts, solution description, active projects, website content, etc. \u2022Represents university at various events, organizations and associations for the purpose of cultivating relationships. Market Research and Data Analysis \u2022Works in tandem with SMC VP and Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Partner Services on market research efforts that provide information for decision-making. \u2022Become intimately familiar with research tools, and use those tools to conduct discovery and provide synthesis and analysis on consumers, categories, brands, markets, industry trends, etc. \u2022Measures the success of communication efforts including auditing and assessing communications\u2019 vehicles. \u2022Provide feedback to university partners on language and design layout of marketing material. \u2022Collaborate with and present data to university partners. \u2022Communicate updates of marketing materials to university partners prior to publishing. Other duties as assigned Required Qualifications - Bachelors in English, communications, marketing, business, public relations or related field required, or an equivalent combination of education and job-related experience. - Minimum 3-5 years\u2019 experience in a marketing and\/or communication role. - Proven ability to plan, prioritize multiple projects, and complete them in a timely manner. - Understanding of customer and market dynamics and requirements - Strong writing and editing skills, including the proven ability to prepare and proofread clear, concise and grammatically correct business correspondence and other documents. - Extraordinary skills in organizing and planning, problem analysis and problem solving - Strong interpersonal skills with a diverse group of individuals at all organizational levels, both inside and outside the university. - Strong technical skills to learn enterprise system, software and tools. - Ability to demonstrate tact and diplomacy and maintain a high level of confidentiality. - Ability to use standard office equipment, including multi-line phone system, copier, fax and calculator. - Strong commitment to customer service and teamwork. - Knowledge of marketing principles and concepts. - Ability to follow policies and procedures for Chapman University and the department; able to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures. Desired Qualifications - Experience in media selection and negotiation - Experience with web\/internet marketing and advertising - Minimum 6 years\u2019 experience in a marketing or communications role
